NOTE: The Director’s Cut is free to existing owners of the Dragonfall expansion for Shadowrun Returns.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut is a standalone release of Harebrained Schemes' critically-acclaimed Dragonfall campaign, which first premiered as a major expansion for Shadowrun Returns. The Director's Cut adds a host of new content and enhancements to the original game: 5 all-new missions, alternate endings, new music, a redesigned interface, team customization options, a revamped combat system, and more - making it the definitive version of this one-of-a-kind cyberpunk RPG experience.

In 2012, magic returned to our world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Among them was the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge, who emerged without warning from the mountains of Germany, unleashing fire, death, and untold destruction across the countryside. It took German forces nearly four months to finally shoot her down - and when they did, their victory became known as The Dragonfall.

It’s 42 years later - 2054 - and the world has changed. Unchecked advances in technology have blurred the line between man and machine. Elves and trolls walk among us, ruthless corporations bleed the world dry, and Feuerschwinge’s reign of terror is just a distant memory. Germany is splintered - a stable anarchy known as the “Flux State” controls the city of Berlin. It’s a place where power is ephemeral, almost anything goes, and the right connections can be the difference between success and starvation. For you and your team of battle-scarred shadowrunners, there’s no better place to earn a quick payday.

Now, a new threat is rising, one that could mean untold chaos and devastation. One that soon has you and your team caught on the wrong side of a deadly conspiracy. The only clue: whispers of the Dragonfall. Rumors that the Great Dragon Feuerschwinge may still be alive, waiting for the right moment to return…

Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut Features:

A Classic, Story-Driven cRPG: See why PC Gamer hailed Dragonfall as “one of the most memorable and complex RPG stories of the decade.” Dragonfall hearkens back to the golden age of computer RPG’s with a novel-like branching narrative full of sharp prose and deep character development. Immerse yourself in a smart, 20+ hour campaign with a diverse cast of all-too-human characters.

A One-of-a-Kind Cyberpunk Setting: Experience the unique “Tech meets Magic” dystopian future of Shadowrun, a fan-favorite game setting now celebrating it’s 25th anniversary. Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director’s Cut is the perfect entry point to the setting for those with no prior Shadowrun experience, while providing plenty of classic Shadowrun characters and tech for veteran players to sink their teeth into.

Command Your Team: Lead a small team of shadowrunners - each with their own outlook, motivations, and backstory. The members of your team are designed to play contrasting roles during missions, and each has a distinct set of skills, abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. But it’s not all about the mission - each team member also has challenges to face in their own lives, which you can choose to brush aside or play an important part in.

Gripping, Turn-Based Tactical Combat: When you’re running the shadows, every turn matters. Choose your actions wisely - move to better cover, charge into melee, or lob a fireball into a crowd of enemies. With over 200 weapons and spells at your disposal, every turn is filled with meaningful choices.

Skill-Based Character Progression: Choose a starting character archetype and build from there! Street Samurai and Physical Adepts use advanced combat skills to dominate the battlefield, Shamans and Mages summon powerful allies and cast deadly spells, while Riggers and Deckers provide critical technological support, projecting their consciousness directly into drones and computer systems. Shadowrun: Dragonfall’s classless skill system allows you to grow your character in any direction you choose.

New in the Director’s Cut:

Standalone: Due to popular demand, Dragonfall is now a completely standalone title!

Five All-New Missions: The Director’s Cut features five all-new original missions, including three related directly to the personal stories of your team members. These missions take you to previously-unseen locales - both within the Flux State and beyond - where you’ll have to face challenging enemies and make tough choices in order to help your team members prevail.

Revamped Combat System: The Dragonfall combat system has received a major overhaul. An all-new armor system adds another tactical layer to the experience, while refined cover and damage mechanics emphasize the importance of battlefield positioning. Complementing these improvements is an upgraded AI system which reacts more intelligently and accurately to your actions.

Redesigned Interface: The Dragonfall in-game interface has also been rebuilt. Spells, items and abilities are now much easier to access, while improved combat feedback allows you to fully understand the tactical situation in any given encounter.

Customize Your Team: Guide your team members as they progress in each of their unique roles, choosing between different focus options to grant them new items and abilities. In addition, if you don’t like a team member’s default spell, item or weapon loadout, you can now customize what they bring on each mission.

Ten New Pieces of Original Music: Fan-favorite composer Jon Everist brings ten new tracks of moody cyberpunk music to the Dragonfall experience, including compositions based on the stories of individual members of your team.

The Complete Dragonfall Soundtrack: As a free bonus, the Director’s Cut includes the entire soundtracks from both Dragonfall AND our previous title, Shadowrun Returns. This also includes the brand new tracks exclusive to the Director’s Cut. Featuring music from the composers of the classic Shadowrun SEGA and SNES games, this exciting cyberpunk soundtrack pays homage to the past with a modern sentiment.

A very proper RPG

I had fun. Story was alright, with multiple choices, mostly flavor but nice anyways. Setting is interesting and dynamic, mostly consistent. Combat is good (played on hard), there are many options, and they seem (at least for me) balanced. There were a few elements that seems unfinished (Inventory management), and some nuisances (no toggle combat mode, no way to see if you are protected behind cover or flanked). I think the game could start out with 3 AP right from the beginning, that way combat would be more dynamic. Give it a spin, for me it was a pleasant experience.

Like olden times

I'm really happy I finally got around to playing this game. I got the original Shadowrun Returns years ago, and only now found the time to try it. While it is a good introduction to the whole Shadowrun thing, Dragonfall is where it's at! It is so much better than its predecessor in basically every way. The game is deep in mechanics and content, has very well-done companions, great dialogue and quests that are actually memorable and moving, with choice and consequence. Missions like "Trial Run", "MKIV" or "Lockdown" will be a gaming experience I'll remember for years. It is less linear than the first part, and really evokes the feeling of actually working the shadows. If you like fresh, memorable (and sorta dark) adventures, this might be a game for you. I'm a big Infinity Engine fan, and Dragonfall is the first game in a long time that feels like Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 felt back then. The content is different, of course, and it isn't as long and sprawling (cyberpunk pun somewhat intended), but it truly evokes the memory of playing those games 20 years ago.

Alright game with an alright message

I'd enjoyed the gameplay and the decision making through out the game. Granted, I'm not much of a crpg kind of guy, and prefer other genres. About the only major gripe relates to the chrisma tree and the lingo perks. Some you might never use because of your choices through out the game, others may be used once, and then others will pop up constently. (I recommend security first, gang second, and then academic third. Socialite, business, and street, rarely ever came up.) I like normal's freedom to build your kind of character. I ran as a dwarf body builder chasimatic monk who punch everything. Took me a hot minute to realize I need to buy my skills, but after that, things moved smoothly. Spoilers: So the main theme is nature abhords a vacuum. If you spend the time talking to most of the npc's in the hub area, then you will unlock a conversation where you learn more about the assistant in the magic show. It exists as an advisor, and uses a beautiful woman's form to fit in to our world. It informs you of the world beyond our world, kept at the border by powerful beings in our world. The dragons act as a part of this boundry. So killing the dragons will weaken the barrier and allow in things beyond our comprehension. (An alternative ending if you so choose it.) The hyper intellegent AI lacks the ability to see beyond the material, and thus assumes the dragons must die. I hate you cannot inform the AI of immaterial world and attempt to convenice it to learn more before attempting to kill things. Pretty much every mission changes if you disobey your client. I ended up going against the Lodge, because they're jerks, and wished to help the resistance in fighting against them. I freed the AI, and now it wishes to kill me. yata yata. Ergo, if you find a fence in the middle of no where, investigate it before doing anything with it.

i play this game now and wow

i have tried to get into shadowrun series in the past major problem is terrible combat system point blank 70% shots are common melee misses are also very common basically in this game taking cover and focus fire is useless compared to real way to play play like idiot don't take any cover just keep running away enemies will exit their cover and go after you with good utilization of rooms and corridors you can make enemies walk to their death as you with 0 cover just focus fire on 0 cover 2 of them who ware close enough to reach you Combat also reward slugish gameplay and stall Taking cover naturally helps, but if you can spend 2 actions to kill only enemy close enough to attack vs spending 1 action to take cover and 2 to attack... i like build variety and options running the game as Shotgun shaman (hard to explain, i murder, summon demons, heal, raise stall barriers and acid, and lose control over demons, but they are too close to my enemies to care anymore) As for Story: game don't have single voice line, this makes entire thing very hard to get invested in Wall of text design + Cyberpunk shows me exactly all the entry level problems Once you start reading all this crap game gets pretty interesting i m not sure how to review this game as fact that someone could do such "unfun" game is a miracle game feels very much like DnD from outside it looks like shit for nerds, but if you get invited and sit thru it, you can get very cool memories and friendships most memorable for me was lockdown quest even if i could see from miles a lot of the plot, it was integrated so well i could not complain Characters in this game are interesting, you can have basic 2 pages of dialogue (that's low for this game) with a guy and you feel like you know him well and can tell him apart from other Summary: Totally worth playing best Cyberpunk game in the market Expect XCOM on pills combat you have to read at least 2% of the text to enjoy the game can build in multiple different ways

I ლ(╹◡╹ლ) this game

"Shadowrun: Dragonfall" is an exceptional game that immerses players in a rich cyberpunk universe. One of the game's most impressive features is the ability to use and make good use of different character traits throughout the campaign. Unlike other games that often focus on buffing up a single stat, "Dragonfall" encourages players to diversify their abilities, which makes each character unique and their contribution to the team invaluable. For instance, a street samurai class benefits greatly from having a biotech or even just a hint of magic to heal themselves or up their survivability. The same is true for a rigger who always runs around with their toys, but it would be good to have a point or two into decking so that you could put two ways or get the extra pay of data. Moreover, the use of races and of all the different charismatic etiquettes also imbues a sense of narrative depth that aligns with the Shadowrun franchise. Players have the opportunity to choose their character's race, which plays a significant role in how they're perceived within the game's world. Similarly, the different charismatic etiquettes allow players to navigate different social situations. Overall, the game sets itself apart from others in its genre with this game mechanic, giving players a chance to experience a diverse range of character builds and the ability to strategize in new and exciting ways. However, one of the criticisms that I have is that the game engine does not support astral plains. It would be great to have a Shadowrun game that encompasses astral magic, conjuring, matrix battles, and everyday street samurai action. Despite this limitation, "Dragonfall" is an excellent game that showcases immersive storytelling, unique character builds, and exciting gameplay that make it worth experiencing.
