Bait and Switch

Literally a different game from the one advertised. If you use the offline installer (so anyone on Linux/using Lutris etc) it will install "Beautiful" Mystic Survivors, NOT "Sexy" Mystic Survivors. Which is a censored version and does not contain a lot of the features described on the store page. There is not setting to change, or install option, it literally just changes the game you get AND it renames the file to Sexy Mystic Survivors. When you open the game, it definitely says "Beautiful Mystic Survivors" on the splash screen. Honestly, WTF. On steam I think these are sold as 2 different games. FIX THIS GOG. (the game IS fun, but literally not the game I paid for)

Incorrect Version and Privacy Issues

Although the uncensored version "sexy" was purchased, the offline installers contain the "beautiful" censored version. The game constantly attempts to call back home via UNITY, STEAM and GOG clients without any user consent.

Finally Got It Right

They now have both the Censored (Beautiful Mystic Survivors,) and Uncensored (Sexy Mystic Survivors,) versions of the game available, and I'm leaving this review on the uncensored version. It's everything I expected and wanted, so i'm quite happ. The game does have a fairly steep learning curve people new to the genre (like me, mostly,) should be aware of, so anyone new to survival games with these kinds of enemy waves (like the Vampire Survivors game this is basically a sexy clone of,) should be aware of what they're getting into. Mind you, I do understand where you're coming from, and completely agree, if you feel that both the Censored (Beautiful,) and Uncensored (Sexy,) versions of the game should have been available at the same time, instead of the delay that Sexy Mystic Survivors got. But we've got it now, so that's one mistake GOG has corrected.

Pretty Good

I wasn't sure what to expect wen I saw the cover but after looking at the images and seeing it's "Vampire Survivors with sexy anime waifus, high-quality 3D graphics, and eye-candy VFX!" I figure I'd give it a try. I love the game, it feels like they took the Vampire Survivors idea and expanded on it and did their own twist with some parts. It's more than just eye-candy in my opinion. * Powerups have qualities and 30mins doesn't mean instant death, it means boss fight and I love that. * The visuals are great in my opinion and I'm surprised there are physics for the character models and outfits. * The hud isn't intrusive at all, I didn't even notice the radar in the bottom right until over an hour in. The adult content is alright as a bonus but for me the gameplay has been great, it even works with my xbox controller (little finicky but works). Only crashed once in 3 hours after reaching the 30min mark for the first time. These kind of games have limitless potential considering how much fantasy material there is out there that can be used so I look forward to seeing if/how this game expands going forward.

Expected to hate this

Sexy Mystic Survivors acknowledges what made Vampire Survivors fun and addictive while adding its own mechanics and changes. You can aim your attacks rather than relying on facing. Each character has a unique special in addition to different stats. There are shrines that grant you random relics after you complete a challenge. SMS also trims some of VS's not-so-good bits by giving you an unlockable mini-map rather than having to pause every time you want to figure out where to go, letting you know what passive you need to evolve a weapon right off the bat and which passives actually have an effect on a weapon. You also get a selectable difficulty, there are two bosses per stage in addition to the elite enemies and the graphics are a nice change from Vs's pixels (kinda reminds me of Torchlight). The 'Sexy' part of Sexy Mystic Survivors really doesn't get in the way of the game. Your character's clothes get shredded as you take damage and you only see this briefly or when you pause. There's a gallery, but, as I'm still working on completing the first stage on 'Normal', I haven't unlocked anything there. Story is a barebones "We'll reward you if you help us" kind of thing, but VS didn't rely on a story either. It's a worthy pick-up even in its "In Dev" state.
