A good experiment (mind the pun)
I still remember the backlash this game originally got back in 2002. The forced co-op, no item boxes, less traditional zombies to fight, lackluster villain and weak plot - all were criticised in game magazines and online forums. Despite this, Resident Evil 0 has aged surprisingly well and is a nice addon if you want more classic Resident Evil. It's not as good as the remake but, in my opinion, it still a good survival horror. You still get classic-style puzzles, a mansion(ish) to explore, limited inventory but now you have 2 characters to control at once. This is more of a tactical option, rather than one of overpowering, since you'll be switching back and forth as you carry items across the maps, trading said items and leaving your other character in a strategic position to reduce backtracing and potential deaths. Having said this, you technically DO get to control both characters at the same time using the right analogue stick and you can also issue basic commands (like follow and wait). Your other character can defend themselves (but using up ammo in the process) from enemies if you wish, so the strategic positioning does matter at times. I also really like Billy. Resident Evil 0 could have been better with item boxes (there's a mod that restores them and places them around the map) and it works flawlessly and seamlessly. They could have done with less animal enemies (although it makes sense why there are so many of them in this game) and more traditional zombies where they are slow and methodical in their movement. Also, no crimson heads here anymore. A GREAT RE title that holds up well if you can overlook a couple of odd design decisions and have some more patience that previous RE games of its time didn't require.
Hilft dir das weiter?
