the best version of the classic RE1 experience. a lot of people are whining about how its bugged....when the team who made this possible worked that out. (edit your settings sonny jim find the sweet spot that works for you). it aint directors cut but you know what im ok with this its the original game with the good soundtrack (not made by a fraud claiming to be blind. yes that happened look it up). a lot of QoL improvments like skip door and stair animations and now it runs Dualshock 4 and 5 even xbox series x/s and 360 controllers. to the team responsible you made a customer out of me for this store front now. cant wait to see if you guys bring us dino crisis and any other classic pc gaming gems like this. thank you so much guys cant wait for RE2 & RE3 to drop on this place and see what black magic you guys had to pull to make it happen.

I don't think people realize how huge this is. Capcom is utterly greedy, and they would rather these original RE games be lost to time than ever be supported to modern systems. Everyone should be thanking GOG and their wonderful DRM free movement which has led to this glorious point in time. Not only has the game been kept intact, but they also haven't censored or adjusted it for "modern audiences". I personally cannot wait for Resident Evil 3 myself, because the RE3 Remake is a disgrace, and everyone deserves to play RE3 in its original glory. I can't help but feel overwhelmed, this is my childhood and it's finally preserved for upcoming generations. Thank you again GOG and CDPR.

Fantastic to get this game running on modern PCs. It does retain all the downsides of the original (low poly graphics and low-res pre-rendered backgrounds), yet that really doesn't matter. It runs smoothly, it has controller support and retains all the atmosphere. Yes, it would be nice to have the Director's Cut extras, but at the same time the game is still just as much fun as it always was. For anyone who enjoyed the original release, this is quite simply essential.

While I was born in the 90s, I still wasn't old enough to play these classics. Sometime in my 20s, I decided was gonna buy a PS1, along with the pysical copies of this game. But the actual CDs are ridicolously priced and I wasn't gonna spend that much money. Still wanting to play them, I took a DIFFERENT route (if you know, you know). However, I still hoped to one day own these games, and get a more authentic experience. Well, that time has finally come, and I'm having a blast going back and playing them through once more. The ports are well done, and I haven't run into any issues as of yet. Thanks Capcom and GOG for this special treat!

Let me start with, its good to have the Resident Evil Trilogy on modern computers. As it seems this is the US pc release not the directors cut that was released on playstation 1. That means is missing some neat content like the arrange & beginner mode, items and enemies in different locations, different default outfits (when playing arrange mode) and most of all different camera angles. Now you can say that porting from the ps1 to pc would have been more work than just updating the original pc version but for a re-release for the modern computers you would think releasing the "directors cut" version would have been the at least the default by Capcom. Also not sure how to view this but the removed the inc-ribbons from the game which means you can save any time you want, which surely come in handy for new players but takes away the survival horror element from older players which had be on to lookout for those and think strategically when to use one to save the game. All in all its a "okay" release, could have been better.
