Fun, old school shoot'em up
This game combines my nostalgia and love for quick in-&-out shooters. As a father who plays games from time to time I can thoroughly recommend this game. Cons: - I want more content! It's quite short if you're familiar with other FPS games in this genre. Pros: - Everything else! Secret searching, helpful UI and small upgrades that make the experience just great!

Lame Doom Clone
25 years ago, this game would be on a one-way trip straight to the bottom of the bargain bin. I am sad to say that, but it is true. Starting off, the sound and graphics. The graphical style is a sort of cel-shaded look, Sin City style almost. This, in and of itself, is not bad. The game is not ugly. However, it is very visually busy, and I found myself needing to squint at certain sections, especially in the last episode. Some of the monsters are nice, but as I played, I found that most blended together into a vague slush. Nothing stands out. To make matters worse, all the enemies have one of two AI settings. Either they will sit at a distance and pelt you with hitscan/projectiles, or they will charge straight at you, making a beeline for you, and with little difference in speed. This makes it feel like you're playing DOOM at 125% enemy speed setting with no real payoff. Spawns are not great either. Mostly monster closets, backspawns, and rooms packed with the same six or seven dudes that you will dispatch in the same way as everything else. The levels themselves are extremely short and very forgettable. The early game is packed with tight corridors, some with buggy spots where you can fall through the map. When this happens, all you can really do is restart the level. Visually, they are nice. All firearms leave decals on walls, however, and this makes secret-hunting a headache. Worse yet, some of the secrets (especially in later levels, where the level design gets notably worse) are level-skips, which is to say that they either link two random sides of a level (sometimes bypassing keys entirely or just straight up taking you to the exit!) or teleport you to somewhere random. The music is...bad. Drone-y, two note, doesn't fit thematically. A mission in E4 has this really weird upbeat poppy chiptune? It's bad. Weapon upgrades aren't. At least it's short. Not worth more than 2 USD. Buggy, forgettable, lame.

A good, though not great, boomshoot
Project Warlock is a good boomshot, especially for the money. I had fun at the beginning and end of the game but there were some hiccups in the middle. The game is far too easy until about the 4th episode, even on the hard difficulty. By the end of the second episode and throughout the third, I was getting bored and considered quitting. I'm glad I didn't because I finally had some intense firefights and came close to dying in the city episode. And in the final episode I even died! Once to an actual fight and like 10 times to a cramped level with instant death pits, in a game where you move at Doom speeds. I could have done without that level. There were also several levels in the last two episodes that start you surrounded by enemies and not always facing them. Kind of a evil move but I guess it kept me on my toes. There were several times in episodes 4 and 5 that I went out of the map and could not go back or a switch in the level failed to activate correctly, forcing a restart. There's also a level in episode 5 with an elevator in a sewer that, if you accidentally back out of it, traps you and forces a restart. This is a weird oversight because every other elevator I encountered in the game had a button to return the elevator if you accidentally activated it. There are too many weapons for my tastes. I would rather have fewer, highly differentiate weapons, than many weapons that might overlap. Several could have been cut without losing anything IMO. There are also many weapons that share a key with another weapon and, in almost every case, the weapon I would want in an emergency is not the first one tapping the key will bring up. You can reassign these but it's such a weird and bad design choice. The upgrades in the game are neat but some are not well designed - the melee one that changes your third hit, for example, is mostly a downgrade. But, outside the mid-game slump, I am mostly nitpicking. On balance it was a really good experience.

Adrenaline with amazing look and sound
Love this game, the look, the sound, music, everything. There is nothing i dont like about it (for now) . A lot of upgrades, meaningfull stats, spells, weapons AND you can play melee basically full time, thats a big plus for me in a genre where shooting is the main thing.
