I acquired and own a boxed copy of this very same game title within the last 5 years. Before that purchase I had only acquired and played Might & Magic II on an Intel 386SX processor back in the mid-1980s. Although my copy puts all six titles on an optical disc, it is the very same as what GOG is offering here for download. If you want to experience M&M from its very inception this is the one to get! I bought mine for just that reason because I had missed so much of the series from too busy at jobs. These are classics worthy of perpetual ownership. Prepare for some hand mapping with graph paper with a few of the earlier ones. They start with 4-colour CGA graphics and watch the progressive improvement to EGA/VGA and Super VGA modes. Be patient and get your party developed. Many of these are original MS-DOS titles that GOG has running under a DOS-BOX emulator. These ARE NOT REMASTERED versions spruced up for a purely Windows OS environment. If your CPU is too fast proper code timing becomes an issue with some of the earlier ones. In that case I recommend you select an 80386-25MHz motherboard with CPU and all ISA slots from off of eBay and put together an MS-DOS build for best compatibility. Some of the earlier M&M titles were designed for processor speeds of 4.77 MHz and 8088 CPUs. So even 25MHz might be a bit too fast when the original game title is not running under DOS-BOX. In that case you should run "moslo.com" which is a utility to further slow down games running in MS-DOS environments. I got my copy of "moslo.com" from off a Space Quest 6 CD-ROM disc. You likely can find it on the web. Just be sure to have it virus checked by right-clicking the downloaded file and selecting Scan. After you play these six titles move on to the next titles until you reach: Heroes of Might & Magic which I have purchased from GOG. This is the next major saga of conquest, glory, and fame!
