World of Xeen is Excellent!
I'd always wanted to play World of Xeen again, and now I have. Xeen is M&M 4-5. Separately, M&M 3 is also fun. M&M 6 isn't for my tastes. For Xeen, I chose the Adventurer setting without knowing it's easier; but truly it was an adventure! The plot is silly, but every area is different enough to remain interesting. It's easy to die, so frequent saving is imperative; but the game moves along if you discover enough secrets and go on to the correct next area. Aging is not a problem, though frequent teleports will significantly reduce aging. Gem shortages are almost never a problem. While gold does run out and become the limiting factor instead of experience, you don't need a team of level 200s with obsidian items to win easily. The original game came with a map. You'll want one. You'll also want to familiarise yourself with the auto-notes, quest, and quest-items sections. Guides can be helpful for some things, such as for listing item attributes. However, I found that walkthroughs lessened the fun of the game. It's fun wandering around aimlessly at times, and the game isn't meant to be completed in one sitting. There are a few minor bugs. 1. The mouse cursor phases out at the top of the screen. If wanting to click the items button, you can use the mouse but it's easier to use the "i" button. 2. A click on the menu gem at the centre is often mistaken as a click on an object behind it.
