The most immersive RPG iv'e ever played

Took me about 160 hours to complete the game (minus a few side quests here and there) and i thoroughly enjoyed each and every hour. This game is a TRUE rpg, in the sense that you're actually "living" the life of your protagonist, Henry; In this game, you don't just hop from one point of interest on your minimap to the other, you don't just take on a band of fully armored bandits as if you were a super hero. This is no Witcher 3. In this game, you would ride back to town bruised ,hungry and tired, after risking your neck yet again on a mission from your leige. You would finally take off your armor and fall to a much deserved sleep to regain your strength. in the morning, you would put on your "city clothes" (for you are not some brigand who would walk around the city streets in a suit full of armor). You would go to the traders in the town square or an inn, and get yourself a much deserve breakefast to fill your belly. Then you would go to the baths to get cleaned up and launder your clothes. If you are to report to your lord, you should get yourself as presentable as you can. You would then repair your armor, sharpen your blade, hop on your horse and get yourself ready to another adventure. This is not a fast paced, action oriented open world rpg. This is an incredibly immersive and absolutely stunning medieval simulator. It will take time and practice to get good at practically anything in this game, but it is SO satisfying once you do. If you like to take your time, immerse yourself, experience and enjoy the moment, you will love this game.

One of the greatest RPGs I have played

I was delighted with how good Kingdom Come Deliverance was. Coming from a background of playing story driven games such as Planescape Torment, and exploration based games such as Morrowind and Daggerfall, I enjoy a great RPG. Kingdom Come is definitely the best I have played in the last few years. The character you play is relatable (if you imagine yourself as a young guy in medieval times who grew up in a farm with a blacksmith farmer!) You have never had any real world experience, probably can't even handle the weight of a real sword, and all of a sudden your village is overrun by strange forces. Note that many main characters in the game are real historical figures (it is set in the 1400s in the old Czech region). Also the location in the game is a meticulously crafted replica of the real terrain in that region. Once the game picks up a bit, you start to learn a few skills (if you want - you dont need to), and eventually might even become a little bit good at combat. Of course you are not going to be as good as a trained knight - that would be highly unrealistic. I notice a few negative reviews focus on the combat system, such as "Whenever you face multiple opponents you may as well give up". Well, yes. Why would a medieval blacksmith's son NOT give up against a group of multiple armed opponents? It's a great combat system, because just like the real life character would need to spend a lot of time training to have any sort of meaningful impact with his sword, the gamer needs to train too. The story is great, and keeps you hooked to find out what happens next. There are a small number of mechanics I don't enjoy, such as the lock picking mechanic (it's similar to the Elder Scrolls system but seems a bit more difficult), but then again, that's exactly as it should be. Why would some random kid be good at picking locks of chests? It takes practice. Guess I should just get better at it. Highly recommended!

The Save System...

Playing KC:D takes me back to playing Morrowind for the first time, before the open world genre felt stale and mechanical. I feel immersed, like I am holding the protagonist's life in my hands, and I want to make the best choices for him. I don't know whether I will survive a fight, and flight is sometimes a necessity. The game does a good job of showing you that being a peasant son of a blacksmith does not a superhero make. It punishes you for being stupid, and rewards you for being sensible and smart. Now, the game received some mixed reviews on release, primarily due to the bugs (which seem to have gone; the game runs basically flawlessly now) and the save system. I don't know whether this was adjusted after release, but I wanted to explain it, because I actually think it's one of the game's great assets. It discourages save scumming, meaning that your choices feel weightier. But, there seems to be some misconceptions around it, specifically because it introduces *shudder* save items. There are actually three save systems. First, you can always create a temporary save by saving and quitting. This temporary save can only be loaded once, but it means that you can always quit the game without losing your save (you can also quit and lose your save too, if that's what you want). Second, you get a permanent save for free whenever you sleep at a bed you own. At every point beyond the first part of the tutorial, you always have a bed that you can sleep and save at. As the world opens up, you can pay inkeepers a fair sum of money to unlock other beds around the map. Third, you can use a Saviour Schnapps item to permanently save anywhere you want. These items can be found, purchased, stolen or crafted from roadside herbs at any alchemy bench. You get the recipe for this item during the tutorial. You can easily play the game without using a single save item. Using them allows you to experiment a little, and if you run out, you can always make more.

Ruined Other Games for Me

A rare gem in the modern state of the industry. A game lacking almost every complaint I have about modern games while brimming with incredible content. If you've ever had a knight fantasy as a kid, are a fan of RPGs or immersive sims, or are a fan of actual history and would like to ACTUALLY ROLE PLAY a medieval person in a real setting surrounded by real historical events without a shred of fantasy then this is the game for you. The developers did a solid job fixing almost every single bug. With nearly 300 hours and several playthroguhs in the game I still haven't gotten bored. I stop playing games I haven't finished yet just to play more of this, and I don't see that stopping any time soon.

Possibly best RPG I've ever played

I'll start with saying that I am a bit obsessed with the Czech Republic... so that might influence my passion for this game. It seems the countryside has not changed in over 500 years... the paths in the forest I used to bike on when I was younger look pretty much the same. But to the actual game, its stunning; and, my computer can only handle the lowest settings. Its a hard game... but quite worth it. I actually enjoy training and leveling up my Henry's skills. Even just simple bow hunting in the forest is a relaxing beautiful experience. The writing of the story is great and there is so much to do. Before I got this game I played a heavily modded Skyrim... and have been playing it for about 10 years; now, I've uninstalled Skyrim and this is my only game. I doubt I'd be able to go back to it.
