I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream

Same as Deus_Ex, I must admit I loved Harlan Ellison's short story, and loved the game when it first came out. (I believe I first played the demo of the game, which I found on a now-deceased Polish games magazine's CD - Secret Service.) It swooped me of my feet with its dark, gritty suspense and horror laden atmosphere. One cannot help but feel the oppressive watchful eye (sensor?) of AM on the characters. The story is brilliant. Game is beautifully drawn. A true gem for a discerning, mature player! (I suggest reading the short story first!)

Just when I'd been hoping for more older games to come out among the flood of Indies cropping up of late, GOG pulls out this excellent title. Well done! Anyone who knows the value of Ellison's work will tweak to this titles themes of human morality and ethics. It forces the player to make choices in situations that are questionable. It's also the first real survival horror game made. I can't recommend it highly enough! :)

Played this first time when it came out. Never finished it but learned later on that due to several bugs you could get stuck with no hope of getting forward. Unfortunately none of this bugs have been fixed in this new release. You can still play as Nimdok and get stuck if you do wrong things in wrong order, and the game doesn't even hint that you should've done things differently. Much worse is the fact that you can actually complete all five tales and the get stuck in the last episode without a hope to complete the game successfully.

There are radical changes when compared to the original short story, some who are comprehensible because it's a short story after all, there is not enought material, but some are really strange and not necessary at all. Read the short story and play the game and see for yourself.

Nach über 23 Jahren, damals auf englisch, noch einmal durchgespielt. Das Spiel ist grafisch und inhaltlich sehr gut gealtert. Ich hatte einige "Flashbacks" beim spielen. Schade ist das Nimdok in der deutschen Version "ungünstig" entfernt wurde. Ich wurde 5 Stunden gut unterhalten. Es war ein guter Start für meinen Nostalgie-Trip. Weiter geht es mit "Kyrandia Book One"
