Received Product For Free (tm)

This is closest to Dark Souls 1 in terms of gameplay. There's no fancy movements and ranged/magic seemed very limited. It also has those "I don't know what I just did moments" like joining covenants etc. I had fun for a 4-5 hours until after missing a bonfire I had to go about 1 whole hour stressfully picking fights hoping to find the next checkpoint and not lose my souls. After I finally found a bonfire I went and fought a boss which for some reason had a lot more hp than any before and about 15 minutes into the fight he hit me during my roll and the game refused any further commands of mine. It was quite funny watching the boss proceed to miss me for about 20 seconds despite me not being able to move. This was the second time this had happened so I just gave up. I think it's a cool game but without the hype of a good community like most Souls games have it's not as easy to keep pushing. I similarly never finished the original Demon's Souls.

Great Souls-like!

+++ Art direction, atmosphere ++ gameplay : hard, but rewarding rigor ++ combat boss : epic ++ music : sets a deep-dark-futuristic-corrupted-techno-daemonic ambiance :D + cool graphics + panel of combat-styles + level design : complex and clever + plenty of secret passages everywhere + you discover many parts of the lore through gazing the world --- can't pause the game : huge issue when you live with someone else or animals -- still some bugs (escpecially in Blue Sun DLC) - it was kind of boring for me to get lost so often ^^' - some secrets are just too hard to find (no clue for some demolishable walls, order to kill some specific ennemies,...) CONCLUSION : I will be happy to try the New Game + or a new character to experiment new combat style (to use magic or ranged weapons for instance)

A decent, if obscure, soulslike

A typical soulslike in a dark sci-fi setting, somehow similar to Event Horizon. The combat is fluid and fun, if repetitive, but the major focus is on exploration, as the map is very complex and full of secret areas and interconnected shortcuts. If you're into the sensation of being lost and not knowing exactly where you are and where you're supposed to be going, this is the game for you. A bit too obscure, maybe: after having played all four endings, I still have absolutely no idea whatsoever about anything in the plot or lore. Zero. No clue at all.

Hellpooint Review

Hellpoint is a souls-like game set in space, so prepare the meet the usual horde of difficult enemies & brutal combat combined with some very nice visuals. My main gripe is the lack of a map (I have a terrible sense of direction). Another issue I noticed is that inspecting the yellow handprints causes the game to glitch out; the only way to remedy it is to force close the game, which makes you lose your progress.
