Hacknet

Good game, really polished and no bug so far ! I enjoy the adrenaline you have when the timeout is on, it makes it feel like you're really hacking other servers. The command line is a UNIX like, so quite close from reality. You have penetration tools that are credible although "too easy" to be true. The story line of most missions is great and I like the main frame. Sometimes you need to be inginious to recover from situations or complete objectives. The knowledge of linux and a good typing speed are great assets to begin with but I guess it will just take you a little more time if you're not used to it. In brief, it is a great and modern game of hacking simulation, I hope the author will keep it going with some DLC's in the future.

It's a cheap rip off of the Telehack(dot)com No real challenge; terminal with half working autocomplete and poorly implemented * masks; terminal history glitchy; no support for standards shortcuts; network map is a disaster - nodes stack on top of each other, can't zoom in etc. -- I'd seriously enjoy it a bit more if I didn't have to use mouse at all! Lol -- Ah, and cherry on top - to run it on Linux you need to: 1) Pray to Anubis 2) Use Steam runner to launch it. Because game uses ancient libcef, that's linked against obsolete gconf-2.so.4

This game is cool and some of the concepts are on point, too bad it gets repetitive. Do Shell overload, analyze Firewall, execute the same 5 exes and the PortHack. That's the game, well and some others steps to fulfill job, anyway same same, repetitive 8/10

I loved playing Hacknet. I was fortunate in that I didn't have issues like some of the other reviewers. I'm pretty sure this was the first game I have played in this genre and hopefully not the last. The game was exciting and challenging, though not overly so. I do look forward to picking up Labyrinth when I find time to play.

This is a pretty good game. I'm a programmer, though, and the shell is downright painful to use because of its limitations. I get it, it's a game, but I definitely would have preferred something a little nicer. The story is mostly linear, which is a shame. There are some neat little Easter eggs and paths that you can find in subsequent runs, but once you find those, the game is basically done. And after the story ends, there's almost nothing to do except explore stuff you've already found a little more thoroughly. I highly recommend the DLC - it's a great addition. I wish this game had a way to code exploits and defences yourself. A multiplayer version would have been really cool for that, but that hasn't gone anywhere. Some more content other than the story and a less linear plot would have been nice, too. But it is a very good game that I would highly recommend, especially if it's on sale.
