Watched the intro and fell in love
I remember getting this game not really knowing what to expect but sure enough, it didn't take long for me to be so immersed in the game I must've finished it within the same week, school and all. Not sure how it holds out the test of time or if it has the loving modding community of FS:2 but I recommend it to any FS fan. it part of the story of the FS universe and it is an epic one. this game changed the definition of a space-sim for me

Frechheit!
Ich finde es eine Frechheit, dass diese coolen Klassiker nicht auch auf Deutscher Sprachausgabe und oder Deutsche Sprache verkauft werden. Ja, es stimmt viele der Klassiker sind besser im Original aber für Menschen die der Englischen Sprache nicht mächtig sind ist es fast schon eine Diskriminierung von Minderheiten! Ich möchte das nur mal so in den Raum werfen.

Game breaking bug
A bug in the mission "Paving the Way" (6th mission) prevent some of us from continuing the campaign. I enjoyed the game (impressive for a 1998 title) but wasn't able to play over two hours because of this. I've found a post complaining about this bug as old as 2008 on the GoG forums. There seem to be ways to fix it but it's rather complicated. I won't be buying Freespace 2 here because I don't want to risk another breaking bug.

pretty good game for sure
I didn't enjoy this game as much as I enjoyed many of the starwars space combat games but it is a good fly and shoot game, if you played x-wing or tie-fighter you should get what I mean....the starwars games just seem to do a better job with the whole combat thing, but it's good enough that you won't regret getting it(in my opinion), it includes a mission editor(FRED) but I could not figure out how to do anything with it.....was never able to put together even the simplest of dog fights, what a shame they didn't make it dummy-proof to use for DUMMIES like me.....bottom line I like the game but this genre is always in need of improvement . when I get the free time I will search youtube or something for tutorial videos on how to use this thing.
