Pure art

The game is awesome. Yes, it's not very re-playable for the story in itself. But the various flabbergasting landscapes, the tremendously immersive music, the sense of loneliness in the world are what still bring me back sometimes just to take a tour in Wyoming's woods. I won't get in the details with the story to avoid spoilers, but I also loved the ending, even if it was really different from what I was expecting. The only downside in my opinion is the price tag: 20 euros for this kind of game is pretty much (I think I bought it while it was in sale). But if you like this kind of game don't let anybody convince you otherwise and just take it.

Walk, relax and talk to Delilah

This game has been waiting for me in my backlog for ages. But you know - covid times, already played 100+ hours games I have been looking for something lighter, that would be ok for me to play at one weekend and that's it. Firewatch matches those needs perfectly. It's an indie game, which has all pluses of that kind of games, but also some minuses. Starting positively - I love the idea of a hero, who joined a fire watch squad to run away from his life and find meaning. I appreciate how creators enable us to pick what happened first and merged it nicely into the gameplay. This boost the immersion in the game and makes us care more about our character. The setting of the game is a large forest in US - graphics are definitely unique and stylish and due to the night and day system - each day spend in the game looks different. This is a huge plus and makes the game more interesting. There is some backtracking though - not so annoying due to the best part of the game - dialogues. When you walk (and you walk here A LOT), you can speak through walkie-talkie with your boss, Delilah. She is sitting in the watchtower close to your, but you build your relationship with her through dialogues, never knowing how exactly she looks like. And what you do, comment or nor and which dialogue options you choose - matter. This is the strongest part of the game and kudos for the writers and voice actors who did a stellar job there. I kind of wish to see a sequel and listen to their conversations a little bit more. Being a walking simulator, this game is not for those looking for action. You will get bored in seconds. For those searching for some peaceful moments when you can admire trees at the distance and uncover mysteries of the forest - Firewatch is your hidden gem. Play it and you won't be disappointed. I wish that the game had more replayability options and be a little bit longer.

Incredible voice-acting

Firewatch, in many ways, is an extraordinary exploration of isolation. Henry, your protagonist, sees very few other people, and often the only sounds you hear are his footsteps on the terrain. You spend much of your time conversing with a woman named Delilah, your supervisor, and you (as well as Henry) come to appreciate her ramblings in the midst of such loneliness.

Good experience but short

The game is quite short, I beat it in just 5 Hours, and I certainly did not speedrun it. The Story is quite good, I won't spoil but it is suspenseful. There are moments where I was quite scared, alone in the woods at night. But this is not a horror game, if this is something you might wonder The game seems to be rather poorly optimized, as I couldn't quite get to 50 FPS on a GTX 750Ti and an i5-4460. Granted, this isn't a beats of a a rig, but it can run GTA V just fine, so I don't get how a semi-linear game with no explosions would run this poorly. If you like walking simulators, you'll certainly like this game. But don't expect a great ending. 3/5, because while it is a good game, I feel it is way too short, the choices you make don't really matter that much and the game doesn't run good. Still would recommand buying it, preferably on sale

Audio book simulator

It's really pretty. Fire weather effects pretty good. It's a walking, exploring game with an ok trail-based map. The story is, 'meh'; back and forth between your char and the driver. An awkward summer camp kinda relationship with unecessary 'deep personal backstories(TM)'. Replay once maybe tiwce, with long delays between.
