Fallout 2

I must say I enjoy the sci-fi RPGs more than the fantasy ones and I own quite a lot of them, so I can say that in the sci-fi / futuristic / post-apocalyptic department, this game is the gold standard and still holds the title. Vegas is cool, Wasteland 2 is mostly alright, Shadowrun Dragonfall is a masterpiece, I'm not a big fan of Deus Ex but I get it, Mad Max was super fun, Vampire MB was great, but Fallout 2 is unbeatable to this day. This game just got it right in so many aspects I wouldn't know where to begin! Be sure to play with the Restoration patch though!

This one is a nostalgic journey of mine but it does survive a trial of time. Great story, flexible character development system and multiple ways to handle nearly every quest makes this game stand out the most. On top of that great soundtrack and still satysfying combat will make wandering through wasteland both enjoyable and channelnging. If you haven't played classic RPGs - this one is for you.

As many have stated before me, the game is an improved Fallout 1 and really well done so. It's bigger, feels deeper and the immersion is even greater! Items are expanded as are locations and NPCs. The plot is also engaging! The AI is improved but you'll encounter the occasional "funny" moments (like enemies staying near your companions and your companions just staring at them instead of attacking, or companions using a spray attack on each other etc) but those won't ruin your experience even the slightest. Also now you can customize your companions better, since you can give them weapons and armors to wear, plus they can improve their abilities the longer they are with you. Get it!!! NOTE: Some people have Fallout 1, 2 or Tactics in their library but still seeing those as "purchaseable" in their respective pages. The reason is most probably because they have the "classic" versions in their libraries and not those "new" ones. Probably a fantastic game but no Mac OSX Support anymore! GOG lost the rights to publish the OSX version.

One of the best games I ever played. I wish that the new fallout games would be more like the F1 and F2 with great combat, level-up system, story, dialogues and characters. While this game may seem boring and difficult from beginning, it will get better with every town visited.
