Driftmoon Enchanted Edition

I've played this game twice and both times had a good time. Its rpg light, meaning the genre has been striped down to basic elements, you can still craft potions, eat food, gather loot, build your skills etc. , its just not super complicated or you have to resort to game manuals in order to figure out how to play. This leaves the game easy to pick up and off you go, plenty of flavor text, items to manipulate in the landscape, lots of loot with clever descriptions, in fact you will read a lot in this game and thats where the fun is. The story is perfectly fine, along the stereotypical lines of evil baddie taking over the world and a young adventurer set on a path to fight it. many characters with back stories and minor quests. companions to equip. Its like eating potato chips, one chip leads to another, same with progress in this game. Its hard to put down, just one more exploration, one more skill to level and before you know it hours have passed. Graphics are minimal but well drawn portraits and dungeons. Music is very well done, orchestrated thru out. Menu is easy to use, inventory is small enough not to be a hassle. crafting is very quick. Now to the religious stuff. It does have direct references to Christianity but only in a couple of cases. the most egregious is finding a whole bible under a desk. First play thru I was most put out by the proselytizing, second play thru I barely noticed. Most of the religious references are what you find in all rpgs, referring to a Maker, following holy texts and monks path of sanctity. If not for the clumsy insertion of actual bible references you wouldnt even notice. Females are portrayed a bit flaky and girlish which is annoying, ive seen worse in other games. Gameplay is maybe 20- 25hrs, perfect for a quick fix of rpg goodness, it has mods which you can easily access in start menu, most are trivial, one allows playing as a female which was nice. its addictive and fun

The best review is the story i found this game: First i've met "Driftmoon" i was looking for something similar to "Eschalon" and somehow "Balrum". I was intended to find some game filled with dark-fantasy arts and plot, with crimson story-driven gameplay, difficult battles and tactics. Then i found "Driftmoon" and it dissapointed me this way. I found it's humorous dialogs and story quite stupid and childish, gameplay was boring and even music seems to put me into the wrong mood. Then i exposed of it, and decided never play it again. Then, some years later, i tried once more. And i liked it. It is trully puts me into the times of my childhood, when fairy tales was bright and good, characters was kind and funny, and process was simple but attractive. "Driftmoon" trully has no mechanics and stories to tell in a grim and ugly way. It's still a fairy tale from the past. And if you watch it works this way, you'll definitely love it.

Driftmoon is a relaxing RPG adventure; it takes around 24h for 100% completion. It doesn't end there though, because the game comes with a modding system which prolongs its lifespan. Overall, Driftmoon is a beautiful window into the creators imagination. Highly recommended!

Unlike RPGs of the past, this you can pickup and play and enjoy instantly. There's no inventory the size of a tome nor spells that 90% of the time you don't even use. It's just pure straight-to-the-point enjoyable exploring and killing! A simple one click attack and they will fight until the enemy is dead and there's a hotbar with everything you need on it. Regardless it still has the meat and bones of any other RPG without the faff. It's like playing a Zelda. Pick it up and enjoy minus the migrain ;)

I've been eyeballing this game for a long time. It looked interesting and I really like the quirky type of top down games (like Dink Smallwood). I wasn't expecting to like this game, but I was completely blown away by how brilliant it plays. First, the combat is a little lackluster. It can be quite difficult if you build you character the wrong way, especially on harder difficulties. There are only a few skills, that aren't that cool. Second, the game is kind of short. Maybe ten hours if you do everything and read all of the text. Third, the writing in this game is superb. The story is a little meh, but each of the characters in this game has such... charm. I rarely like reading so much text in a such a simple game, yet I found myself wanting to search out and do as much as possible. This game won me over with it's quirky charm and if you like similar games, you will love Driftmoon.
