The peace of your enchanted world, Driftmoon, is at an end. An ancient evil is awakening, casting its dark shadows even on your serene home village.
Hope lies in an unlikely alliance: A young man joins forces with a little firefly dreaming of stardom, a panther queen with the ego of a moon whale, and a fellow who's lost everything but his bones, and still hasn't given up. Knowing nothing of the amazing adventures and the fearsome foes that await them, the party embarks on a journey like no other.
Driftmoon is an adventure-roleplaying game, full of exploration, smiles and surprises, captivating stories and quests, charming characters, and countless delightful details.

And more surprises! Because there's bound to be something cool that we forgot to mention here ;)
At a first glance, the game looks bad, the music can be a bit grating, but you won't ever know, for sure, what's going to happen next. It's so full of charm and wit, you'll keep playing just to see what whimsical thing will happen next, and I appreciated that about the game. A full playthrough, completing all quests netted me 8 hours, so I think its length is appropriate and doesn't overstay its welcome. I was perfectly entertained for the entire time, and that's something rare.
Driftmoon ist a "little" game, but it has everything a good RPG should have: nice characters, good dialog, good mainquest and fitting sidequests, a tiny levelsystem which still provides everything to make the player happy, good fights, nice little puzzles and a heroic ending. It´s easy to play and I liked the music, which got me in a good mood.
The only little flaws are the choosen font (for so much text to read), which makes it difficult to find the right balance between to wide (on a big screen) or to tiny; and the fact that there is not much relevant to buy. If you play on "normal" you find most of the potions you need and don´t need to craft them, so you drag a lot of things around you never have use for nor need to buy more of them. And you have no reason to sell, because you find enough gold and there is nearly no armor or weapon to buy you would need more money for.
Besides of that, Driftmoon was a wonderful experience and just made me happy. It took me a bit more than 17 hours to complete (I´m a slow player, I guess), and it was a refreshing break from all this "big" games like Witcher, Skyrim or Dragon Age, which I love, too, but which use to take months of my life.
If you are not in the mood for meaty RPG, this is little adventure game (not much RPG to be seen honestly) that may fill the void. It's just lighthearted, whinsical adventure with funny or less funny jokes. Don't expect much more than this though.
a really charming top-down rpg with pausable real-time combat. not a fan of the latter, prefer turn-based, but on lower difficulties it shouldn't be a problem if you're in it for the story, characters and exploration, like I was. it's not too long and more or less linear with new locations opening up as you progress, but it's very funny and cheerful, we don't get a lot of games like this nowadays. monsters don't respawn, which is always nice, but natural resources for potions and such do over time, you can even plant bushes to grow your own fruit.
I would've liked to skip nights by sleeping through them, there are plenty of beds around, but it's not possible. there's mod support, not sure about the amount and quality but it might be worth looking into. not gonna go into more detail, there's a demo to try, should be enough to make your mind up but it's really worth playing, I had a lot of fun. hoping for a sequel one day.
Everything can be controlled by the mouse. Teleports make travel very easy. The game is easy to understand and play so it is also suitable for casual players. It is simply a joy to play.
Hint: Make sure you move everything you can if you like hidden treasure.
