Superlative in every way
Summary: Having played Prey first, I was a bit unsure of the more RPG-esque appearance of Dishonored - but I was completely wrong. The same Arcane Studios elements are there, the most important being the one of the player's implicit choice in many actions. It's not simply whether you decide to play stealthily, be merciful, fight your way through, but you'll face situations where you have to think about the moral implications of what you do. To the naive, the game would look linear; if you open your eyes, you'll see decisions everywhere. Buy it. Even at full price, it's amazing. Positives: - Brilliant skill tree that integrates with the game - Multiple ways of solving every puzzle - What you do in the world has an effect - Graphically still stands up well today Negatives: - The plot twist is a little predictable - The algorithm for determining whether you killed anyone (possibly indirectly) is a bit dodgy - it's annoying to leave the unconscious in very safe places, only to be told that someone died, and not know who/where/what/why

Freedom in an FPS
There is no denying this is a very good game when all is said and done. It looks great, even today for the most part. It sounds amazing, and plays solid, delivering on the promises made about the game. Now if only it was a more challenging title and the AI didn’t go completely retarded at times, it could have been a complete knock-out. But as it stands, this is one of those games that as long as you like the First Person view, will give you the freedom to find your way to play it, and you will probably enjoy it for that reason alone.

My favourite game
A stylised art direction that survives the test of time, oozing with atmosphere and hugely fun and replayable gameplay. I don't really have any complaints, the game is what you make it. From someone who's done a playthrough in every style imaginable, just do what you find fun - chaos be damned. Personally I enjoy high chaos stealth, combing the map for lore and immersing youself in the world but the nonlethal methods of dealing with targets often make you interact with the world and levels more so than just sticking a sword in their neck and are definitely worth checking out. The whole series is great, but Dishonored 1 + TKOD/TBW remain king.
