Phenomenal. Just phenomenal.
tl;dr Good noir like aesthetic, great music, wonderful world and history, great story, great characters, good unique skill tree and mechanics. The game is highly unique and is an experience I haven't had elsewhere... and has stuck with me. Its dice roll based RPG mechanics may not be for most, but its story is something I recommend everyone playing. --- (No spoilers) --- This game is amazing. Its got a great art style, great sound track, *really* wonderfully crafted world and characters etc. But that's not even why its special. The game has a really interesting skill tree, and scope for replayability. But that's not it either. Without spoiling, the game is one big Rorschach test. As the character discovers themselves and the city, so do you. It becomes this engaging, immersive sim, where you explore a wonderful, melancholic yet hopeful city, a city longing for hopes and dreams long gone, and you find out, in a way, who you want to be. How you want to think. While all characters live in the same city, there are fascists, communists, racists... and just normal people, hopeful for the future in a crumbling ruin. The game is like a novel you read in your teens, that resonates with you, and defines you, for years to come. But what's even more special about this game is... YOU decide what it defines you as. It's just that special. The weird thing is you won't even notice it doing it, until a year later, when you listen to the soundtrack, it all comes flooding back, and you go to review the game. Red Dead made me sadder. Witcher 3 was a bigger Journey. Bioshock had a (barely) more memorable setting. They all left this in the dark whenever anyone asks me my favourite game... because it's more than a game. It's something that sticks with you. It truly is a unique, wonderful, experience. While its gameplay may not be for everyone... I would recommend giving it a shot as it's just such a unique experience.
