I Loved It, But at What Cost?

Let's be totally real with one another. There is a lot of circle-jerk that surrounds this game, and it's unwarrented. The complaints however, are. So let's get this straight shall we? The Story: It is exacly the caliber of complexity that you would expect. You can tell it was from the team who created The Witcher 3. I would say the story is better in some ways than The Witcher 3 given that the plot and direction are far more in it for itself than keeping true to a set of pre-written narritives that are the world of The Witcher books. The unfortunate side is that life paths don't seem to have much an impact on outcome of the story BUT, they do affect how you get there, for me at least it satisfied me. We have to remember there isn't a slideshow at the end showing how your choices affected the world like in Fallout:NV, but it's animated, and directed and controllable, so to me the endings met my expectations. Overall: Amazing voice acting and character development; utterly outstanding. Really solid plotline where sidequests, shards and gigs play into it narratively. The Soundtrack: My god. It's one of the best soundtracks I think i've heard. It compliments the world and story so so well. The radio is amazing, the ambient OST is great and the story's music is just outright a 10/10. It's meticulously placed into moments, conversations, combat and adds great suspense in some scenes. Riding through the city with The Dirge radio with KonnradOldMoney - Gr4ves playing, man it just works. World and AI: OK, most controversial last. The world setting is unlike any other. You can really feel the scale of it and there is so much to do however, it lacks a certain element which is radiant and random events. If I've pi**ed off the Tyger Claws, why don't the footmen try to settle their scores, or come after me .etc? Interactable arcade and pachinko machines would be cool too. Plus the bugs, which is why this review is a 3/5. Once the bugs are fixed this is a solid 4.5/5 for me.

Wäre als Netflix-Serie besser gewesen ;)

Tja, wäre Cyberpunk2077 eine gesellschaftskritische Film-Serie würde ich volle Punktzahl für Kulisse, Setting, Story und Atmo geben. Da es aber als RPG, Openworld, Sandbox Titel beworben wird bzw. wurde muss ich leider sagen, dass diese Elemente so gut wie nicht vorhanden sind. It's a action adventure with barely rpg elements! So im nachhinein denke ich hätte es aufgrund des eher nervigen, verbuggten gameplays (besonders Nahmkampf) auch ein kostenpflichtiges lets play getan um das Werk in vollen Zügen zu geniesen/würdigen. Eine Lächerlichkeit neben der fehlenden Ingame-Physik/Ki muss ich jedoch noch loswerden, es gibt im Jahr 2077 keine Taschenlampen oder sonstige mobilen Beleuchtungsquellen mehr, auch Cyberware/Implantate wie Nachtsicht, Infrarot oder Röntgensicht sucht man vergebens. Glaube das "Night City" haben die Devs zu wörtlich genommen. ---Hello darkness my old friend, iam here.....--- Als oberster Fanboy und Verfechter der ersten Stunde von CDPR kann ich leider nur 3 Sterne mit Augen zudrücken vergeben.

Potential to be great

I genuinely feel bad for all the devs that worked on this game. They deserved better than to have their game release in this state. This could have easily been one of my favorite games of all time, had it not had such obvious gaping holes from cutting content and a menagerie of bugs that ruined the experience more often than not. I've lost count of how many times I've had enemies shoot me through walls, see me through the back of their head, have missing dialogue, walk through walls, and more. It's a buggy mess and choosing to play on hard difficulty made it that much worse, with even basic enemies requiring 4 point blank headshots with a shotgun to go down. There's even a moment where the doors blast off their handles, you're surrounded by enemies and a big named bad guy in a room that anyone can pick out as being an obvious boss fight space... and then it just cuts to 20 minutes later with the guy dead and you in the middle of escaping. This was where it really hit me just how much was going to be cut from the game for the rest of the playthrough and contexualized it all. And the worst part is, the story, at moments, really got me. Especially the ending. The world? Still really cool, absolutely beautiful. And I grew to like every character in the game for one reason or another. I really, truly hope this game isn't dead and going to get the love it deserves one day. It needs some fixing and never should have come out in this state, that much is clear, but a lot of the hate is getting overblown just because people are disappointed. It's not a horrible game at its core, it just needs a bit more time in the oven. To anyone looking to play this, wait a month or two for patches. Even if you already own it, just wait. You'll be glad you did. And to any devs, try not to let all this get to you. You crunched all year long and did the best you could. It's too late to save the game's launch but not too late to change how it'll be remembered in 5 years. You'll be fine.

OK game in a vacuum

If I put aside the fact that this game was made by the same people who made Witcher 3, that it was in development for 8 years AND ignoring the marketing campaign - yes it's a pretty good game, bugs aside. ..But we're not in a vacuum. They're a talented studio with the expertise, time and budget that by all accounts should have done better.
