Cyberpunk 2077

I have been enjoying the game since the day I got it logging in 40 hours and now I am taking a break due to a bug where save files get corrupted once it reaches 8mb or more. I hear that it is a big problem to people who does the duplicate glitch, but there are also people who do not do it and just hoard items and materials that unfortunately got their saved files corrupted. I really like and enjoy the game, but I have logged in so much time and effort in my first playthrough that I don't want to risk getting my saved files corrupted, videos online of the response to this bug saying that they "might make it bigger" doesn't sound good or promising which makes me wonder if they would even fix this bug. This game has plenty bugs and missing quality of life things such as being able to transmog and not being able to favorite weapons/armor to prevent it from being sold or disassembled accidentally that I overlook, but all my saved files potentially being corrupted after playing and collecting a certain amount of time is just too much.

Ignoring all the technical issues with the game, it's an ok game and nothing more. 1. The open world is barebones, there are no interactions and the AI is poor. Compare it to say GTA V, where traffic and people react to you and don't appear/disappear out of nowhere, where you can shoot a car's tires, windows even gas tank, and the result is a very bad impression. The one good thing is the verticality but even then it's only for a few locations and only comes into play in one story mission. I heard there used to be an option to climb with the mantis blades so i guess at some point it was used for more, but that's been cut i guess. 2. The customization is non existent. If you want to change your look you are going to take a hit to your stats, a poor choice to say the least. You have all these cars and bikes but there is zero customization for any of them. 3. Gameplay is also barebones. Now the gunplay and melee combat feel good, but there are very few options in how you use them. Usually going guns blazing is the best. The cybernetic augments don't play a big role in how you play with the exception of the ones for the legs, arms and hacking. Compare this with say the last 2 Deus Ex games and the result is pretty underwhelming. 4. Difficulty is too low, even on very hard. At the start of the game it's fine, but play for too long and the game becomes trivial. Using hacking is the worst, you should only use it if you don't feel like playing the game and want to see the story. Smart guns become room wipes, charge guns become one hit killers. The barely balanced option is for ricochet or melee. 5. Finally the story. Now this is supposed to be an rpg, but you will not play the story the way you want. There are only really 3 choices at the ending and that's it, no other character development. The stakes are also too low and you have minimal impact on the world. It's not a bad game, but every thing it does was done miles better by other games nearly a decade ago.

This is the climax of what this industry is going through. I love the game, I love what the developers have done with it; however, I have to give this review because you have disappointed me as a company. I thought you were doing things differently. I really hope you get sued until you you've to close. All those who worked so hard in the development of this game do not deserve to have that class of greedy and incompetent people on top of them.

In my opinion, this game is broken to a degree, that can't be fixed/patched and I am not talking about glitches or performance. The storytelling is just terrible. Why did they think, that the initial time skip was a good idea? Why are there so many "conversations" in the game, that make no sense (like, first V is like "Fuck you, I'm out here" and in the very next sentence, without any given reason, he is like "Yeah, I'm totally cool with it, let's do it")? Another thing, is the terrible game flow. You get interrupted by the most boring shit all the time. Why do I have to be the co-driver all the time, why won't you let me drive? Why do I have to wait for NPCs all the time (there are a lot of escort passages in this game)? You have to wait all the time, even if it makes no sense (once I spoke to a woman in a bar, that gave me a mission and she told me to wait a whole day and come back. What is the answer from the game to that? Sit on next to the barkeeper like 10m away from the the woman and wait there for a whole day...). I already went into the game with the expectation of facing a buggy mess, but what I got was this broken piece of garbage.

I consider £50.00 a fair price for the amount of solid content in this game. It ran very smoothly on my mid-tier rig and did not crash once in 50 hours of gameplay. We all know about the glitches, but on the whole it played reasonably well for me. The artistic design is gorgeous and the environment is stunning to look at. On many occasions I felt like I was actually in a Blade Runner movie. I also enjoyed the Deus Ex type stealth options, allowing for thoughtful, non-lethal approaches to many of the missions. However, at the end of this game I was just left with a slightly bitter aftertaste. The overwhelming feeling is just 'meh'. What a shame. At the end of Witcher 3, I was misty eyed and happy because I really cared about the characters. When I finished Yakuza Like a Dragon, the climactic ending scenes were powerfully acted and genuinely moving. RDR2's character story progression and ending evoke great emotion. CP2077 just didn't give me that; I didn't feel anything. I didn't care. I wasn't moved. Maybe that's OK; it's only a game after all, but I was hoping for more. I'm long enough in the tooth to have known that this game could never live up to all of the hype, but that's not my problem with it. I've seen a couple of reviews for this game describing it as feeling 'off', or that something is missing. While playing Witcher 3, it felt like a true labour of love from CDPR. Playing CP2077? To me it just feels like it was a labour. I am glad I played it, but I don't see me ever playing it again.
