Still a great game and a real gem
I don't have much to say, other than this is still a great RTS. I recommand the game for LAN parties. I had to support the game when I learned that they plan to release the source code for CQ1 and CQ2. Buy this is you like space and RTS. BTW: You can run this game in 1920x1080 or higher if you don't run the game with win95 compatibility settings.

Greatest, most underrated rts ever.
This is one of the most underrated rts games I have ever played. It is a jewel. It was WAY ahead of its time in both graphics, presentation, functionality, gameplay and single player campaign / storyline. Its single player campaign is at the same level as the original Starcraft. It made you want to keep playing, just to see what happens in its universe. It is an epic space opera with a VERY original storyline and proprietary universe and its gameplay is amazingly fun and always interesting. And when I say its on the same level as the original Starcraft, I mean it. The single player campaign builds an entire universe with its own history, dogma and canon. It unfolds it in a way that only great story tellers can. GET THIS GAME and you will not regret it. Sadly, this game was not marketed AT ALL by Ubisoft (arguably one of the worst developers in history imo; they have a bad track record. Ask anybody.). I remember seeing one postage sized ad for it in PC GAMER magazine when I was young, and thats it. After the launch of the game Ubisoft, in standard Ubisoft fashion, abandoned the game and support for it was close to non existent. Another sad story about an amazing game completely killed by its production company. This was an rts game that was created in a lul for the genre. Starcraft was aging and nothing new or good was being produced at the time. This game was however, and it seemed to slip through the cracks and past the radar. If it was properly supported by Ubisoft, we could have had sequels and who knows what else. Buy this gem if you enjoy space rts games. Its an amazing gem.

Amazing RTS!
I love games such as Command and Conquer, Emperor: Battle for Dune, Age of Empires, and other new strategy games. In the end though, this game has always held high on my list of favorite games. The storyline is beyond fantastic, and the intuitive control of multiple star systems (maps) while incorporating the use of admirals to help manage your fleet all while combating a very ferocious game AI lead to an amazing game experience. For those who love the games that I mentioned above, this game is for you! Oh, I find it important to note, that I am only able to play this game on my Windows 7 based PC's. Windows 8, 8.1, and 8.1 pro do not work...as they crash on startup. Also, on windows 7, the game runs very well..bar one exception. The UI lags and is a bit sluggish. This is easily overcome by adjusting the cursor settings and the game speed. All is well! Enjoy!

After modifications, works on win10
Initially, it did not work on win10, but after altering the conquest.ini file per instructions on the gog forum and youtube, it works great so far. Loved this game in middle school back when the graphics were too much for my cruddy PC. Now I can play on those huge maps, lol.

This is a good game
I tried a mission and put it away. Then I did another mission and put it away again, grumbling about its shortcomings. But...then I did another mission. Now I'm getting hooked. Underneath the aging and drab hood is a pretty good strategy game. The artwork is monotonous. Images are slightly unclear and colors tend to blend with each other, so you wonder if that is a scout ship next to an asteroid, or maybe it's an enemy dreadnought? It isn't horrible, but even in it's day the artwork would have been less than stellar. The story and voice acting are better than some I've seen, but that isn't saying much. It's just okay. I set the background graphics to medium, and that helped. It defaulted to 640x480 resolution, which is not a pretty sight. Raise it. The maps are battlefields with one or more planets plus fields of nebulae and asteroids. These are connected by wormholes to other star systems (battlefields). This creates a strategic map similar to those used in Space Empires IV, if you remember that old game. You will build at shipyards and fling flotillas of starships at the enemy, and then do it more, and then still more, moving your point of view between systems frequently to monitor events. The game only begins to shine when a scenario has several star systems and you have to work your way from one to the next. The reason this works well is the game's emphasis on supply. It is the most supply-conscious strategy game I have ever played. You need supply ships for all your long-range missions and carefully placed depots to supply those supply ships. The AI is older and not brilliant, but it has some notable features. While fleets can drift apart during travel, they always gather together before going into a new star systems. I watch defensive ships pursue enemy scouts far into space to destroy them, then intelligently return to their assigned positions. It's cheap, and it's good RTS. It's not beautiful or new, but it grows on you.
