a laid back open world played your way
biomutant is a colourful, open-world game set in a post-apocalypse setting. so, imagine if the fallout developers, the primordia developers and the inherit the earth developers all got together as one big crew and made a game. the result would probably be similar to this, but without some of the cruftiness that often enveloped those games. what i mean by this is that while the subject matter of biomutant is pretty heavy [a giant corporation dumped all sorts of waste on the planet and destroyed it], it never FEELS - moment-to-moment - like it wants to sink into that pit of ennui and drown there. rather, biomutant is fun - and sometimes funny - on it's terms and it wants YOU to have fun playing it. what do i mean by that? well, at it's heart, biomutant is a rpg with all sorts of other systems bolted on top. none of those systems is too onerous and they all hang together as a whole [not always a very fleshed out whole, but that's a different matter] where the sum of these little parts matters a great deal. so, there's a karma system that gives you abilities and a crafting system that lets you make silly [and powerful] weapons, but none of this gets in the way of what the game expects of you: it wants you to explore and to play your way. for me, that meant an all-magic build that fried people as soon as it saw them. there are, of course, problems with this approach, sadly, many of these systems aren't fleshed out very well, and the other creatures you meet, while interesting aren't ever built upon. this extends in other ways: the story is there, but sadly thread-bare. the quests seem interesting but are all fetch quests. while this all seems fairly bleak, i do want to say that biomutant has a FANTASTIC open world that's gorgeous, colourful and vast. there's a lot to see and explore, and that, really, is the crux of this game: explore it at your own pace, and in your own way. but relax and enjoy it while you are.
Hilft dir das weiter?
