Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition

Now I play it and only need twenty minutes on hard difficulty. But as a child during my first time, back in the 1990's, constantly dying made me develop this sense of deep story. I end up having those kind of dreams where I was there in that planet and was friends with the alien guy.

This game is one that I always wanted to play as a child. I bought it on GOG during a sale, and found it incredibly frustrating. The controls tend to be non-responsive, the character you control sluggish, and you will die. A lot. I can't really recommend this title to anyone but the most curious.

I have great fond memories of this game, initially played on the Amiga 500 system. Properly one of the first games I completed. It challenges you with new things throughout the game, one strategy learn will not help you with the next part. one part is time and very hectic, next one you have all the time, but really need to use your brain instead. Love this version with the improved graphics, yet kept enough "old school" to give you the same feeling as 20 years ago. If you never heard of it, give at a go, still a great story as well.

Great game, but the developers seem to have abandoned the GOG version. The latest update with improved background graphics and more languages has not arrived here within 7 months (so far). Still ... The game itself is as good as ever.

Tread carefully. Redrawn pictures...refreshed animations...remastered music...game-play intact! Switch between graphic modes at any time. An action game, very challenging. Although the game would last about 15 minutes if watched as a movie, because of the difficulty, it'll take most about 5 hours to complete, if not more. Your character will die, very often. Checkpoint saves sometimes are merciless. Never boring. You will get stuck; you will have to go back to checkpoints every now and then and retrace your steps, making different choices. The world is beautiful and unpredictable. You play as a physicist, transported into Another World that is mysterious and fascinating; full of blasters and force fields. No letters to collect. No taped messages to listen to...no indicators...no menus...game-play only. Another World IS more like a movie. One location smoothly changes into another. Rooms are unique. Every screen gives a hint of something new. So give it a try. If you could morph the words cool and interesting into one word, that would be Another World.
