The should re-release TW1 only remastered using TW2's game engine. That would look sweet.

Frotz: I quickly grew to hate this game, why?

Because I was given a gritty beautifully rendered intricate world and the body of a homeless retarded cripple.

Everyone else in the world has a house and a bed to go home to, me I get to sleep on the floor and can't even rent a box to keep my stuff in (and there is vastly more and more useful stuff compared to the original).

I am too retarded to remember potions or plans so I have to carry them all around with me.

If I want to pick something up I have to shuffle around trying to stand on top of it like the only way I can pick up things is with a vacuum cleaner pipe stuck in my ass or something. If I happen to stand near a door or a torch I will probably decide to fiddle with those instead.

The only way I can see if there is something I might want to pick up (if I had anywhere to put it) is with my uber medallion sixth sense and it keeps lying to me.

When I am fighting I decide who I want to hit by kinda looking at them funny and I keep changing my mind. My eyes are somewhere behind my head and when they are stuck in a bush I can't see who I am trying to fight at all.

I am such a cripple I can't take the top off a bottle and drink it without sitting down first and baddies must steal all the chairs cos I can never sit down when they are around.

I think someone is drugging me or something cos sometimes I cross some invisible line on the ground and suddenly I am somewhere else (usually staring at an extra large baddie) and I have no recollection of how I got there. I even remember making a special potion to help fight one of them, but, he must have eaten all the chairs again so I couldn't drink it.

I thought I was supposed to be a Witcher, master of magic and combat and feared by all, but no, I walk around this world feeling like a bumbling homeless idiot.
Completely Agree.
I really wanted to like this, but they took several steps backwards in too many areas.

einarabelc5: The Grandmaster IS Alvin.
To be honest a Silver sword will probably bent under such stress. Too Maleable.
avatar
eRe4s3r: That Alvin traveled in time is pure speculation ;) They certainly didn't spell it out
I read in one of the forum post that the devs confirmed the Alvin-Grandmaster connection in one of their Facebook posts in response to a question from a fan. Can't confirm this as I never seen the post myself and it wasn't dated.
Every time I read about someone stealing all the chairs I laughed. I'm having a hard time even writing this now, that really tickled me. Thanks!
If you have nothing original to whine about you should stick to the threads that already exist.

this is a old thread
My name is Geralt of Rivia, and I like to open doors, walk through them and then immediately close them, even if one of my friends or acquaintances is two feet behind me and is likely to be annoyed with having a door slammed in their face.

Fayth: they really need to start working on implementing a small crosshair like the one that was present in TW1
avatar
Frotz: A crosshair (cursor) would require a mouse and consoles don't have mice which is why the game doesn't have a crosshair. Unlike some of the other issues I am not very optimistic that will change. This is a console game it just hasn't been ported yet.
Ow... consoles really are a nuisance...
Don't the doors act as some kind of mini loading sequence? It would explain why they've set it up the way they have, and while not a proper excuse, it beats the loading times of the Witcher 1.

Also, the silver sword vs steel sword argument? How about the fact that the steel swords do vastly different amounts of damage? If I'm hitting someone with a steel blade, they're going to get cut up no matter if the sword has a fancy name or not. Some things are just game mechanics.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with a lot of, if not all, the complaints mentioned throughout, but they didn't make me "hate" this game.

i dont think the guy truly hates the game. you can have reason you hate something that you love

as for loading, it should not need the door to act as a loading sequence when it steams maps. with the tech they mentioned it should allow you to walk right into a new map without even a door.

I would buy it. The graphics in TW1 turned me off. Also hated the head bob environmental camera shake that was built in to the game engine when the Witcher was moving. Was making me dizzy! Was real glad TW2 didn't have that same effect.

The map streaming takes time, and for slower computers, when rushing from one completely new area to the next, I sometimes get a loading screen. Slowing you down with 2 doors and an inbetween space whenever you enter Flotsam for example helps with this.

you better be rushing pretty damn fast for that to be happening. and have a stupidly slow computer.
I've got a slightly weaker graphics card that the minimum system requirements, but the rest of my specs are a bit above. The point is, I think thats how it works. If someone who actually knows corrects me, fine, but from what I've observed it makes perfect sense.

i do know, many games already use this tech, its possible to make a game have 0 loading sequences without hiding the loads using doorways. and its been done before
