CaLeDee: This is what I do when I am overencumbered:

Sell half of the heavy crafting materials: plenty left over to make stuff
Make sure I'm not carrying any useless extra swords: unnecessary
Make sure I'm not carrying extra armour: no need to keep when you have better
Make a lot of potions / bombs / traps to use up heavy materials

Doing this has left me with over 100 space left usually. Just don't tell yourself that you need to keep everything, 'cuz you don't.

KarChee: Yes you dont need everything. But thinking about what you need and going though all the recipes in town to plan ahead is just stupid waste of time. Just patch it so craft material dont weight anything.
Nah I disagree please implement a storage box, since I heard we will be travelling alot maybe we could have a storage box in a warehouse of the local merchant guilds?

Ye know Geralt has many enemies and ships sink easily and a wagon burns just fine if no one is there to protect it. Also it would be cool if the player has to pay for the storage and transportation via merchant guild network.

I think about hrm lets say 500 Orens per chapter (haven't checked the economic thoroughly yet)?
There is an ability that let us carry 50 more space at lv 1, its called strong back but I have no clue how to get more level of that ability. Anyone found a way to get more levels of that ability?

Senteria: Or is it: Throw the knife and it's gone. Because I think it's the first one.
If you throw your knife, it's gone. Forever. You have to craft a new one. A bit annoying.

I dont have that ability. Where did you get that?
I got it after leaving the boat at the start of act 1. Geralt got encumbered after getting his stuff back + the stuff he had collected in the prison.
Hmm I noticed an increase of weight Geralt can carry as well when I was encumbered and arrived at Flotsam (from 250 to 300). I was guessing it had to do with the levels he gained but I can be totally wrong there and did not check if I got an ability...

It's an ability, you can check it by pressing c and looking at the different tabs.
I wonder if we can get higher level of this ability by being encumbered even more like 400/300 or 500/300. But that would be a pain to collect all that stuff needed while walking encumbered :(.

since the ship I am wandering around with 530/250 as I am too greedy to throw things away :-) how long will I have to walk around with that to get that skill :-)
Did you get that strong back ability as soon as you arrived on the boat? I don't have it yet and I am carrying around 370/250 and trying to fight elves without running or dodging is tough.

Edit - I just read a hypothesis on the steam forums that you don't get it if you eliminate a certain someone from the prologue.

Geralt is already a beast, being able to carry 250lbs of shit. However realistic, some of these weights need to be slightly adjusted. Potions should not weigh anything, materials should weigh less and weapons and armor should weigh slightly more.

If you're not going to add a storage ability that is easily obtainable (perhaps magically being able to carry over Acts, a sort of Bag of Holding?) then fix the weight amounts or totals.

Also stop bugging the user so much when they're encumbered.

I got encumbered as well and didnt get the ability?
Did you dump some of your items right after you get of the boat or did you got to the city while encumbered?
At the start of act one I was at 337/300 so I had to throw a few heavy stuff just before getting off the boat.

I think that proves if you don't get it by the start of chapter 1 then you missed the chance. Did you kill Aryan in the prologue? I did and didn't get the extra capacity either even though I looted everything I could find in the dungeon.

Yeah, saving Aryan is definitely what triggers it. You end up having to basically carry him around the dungeon as he's too weak to walk on his own, hence the "strong back" ability.

By killing him you get to see the Baroness' tits as opposed to the extra weight.
