So I started off a game with my old witcher 1 save file (Where I started off with D'yaebel, Raven's armor and Aerondight), I'm almost done with chapter 2 and throughout the game I've been replacing my steel sword at a rather steady rate (D'yaebl--->Robust cutlass--->Temerian---->Kaedwani) but so far I have found no silver sword to match Aerondight's power. My question is, have I missed something? Could I have found a better silver sword?
I crafted a robust blue meteorite sword in chapter 2 to finally replace my imported moon blade. So far it seems like you have to craft new silver swords. The only one I can remember finding on the ground is the Sword of Kaer Morhen. I'm currently somewhere in the middle of chapter 2.

Any silver hotspots by the way? Starting my second play through now, but I really struggled to find silver before. I did find a few, but never enough to craft later swords which I would have liked to try.
In chapter 1 (Flotsam), there is a skeleton with a great silver sword at the clearing.

***Spoiler*** The clearing can be found by doing the quest where you meet Ioreth together with Zoltan and have to fight the Arachas. After the fight, look around to find the sword. It should be on the east side of the clearing if I remember correctly.

I have used this sword until it was replaced far into chapter 2.

Act I: Bsmith, caves (check the corners while walking slowly) and bandit island. You can find some in the houses, too. if you are lucky.

there is also a wonderful silver sword in the dwarven catacombs. with freezing effect. Jagged blade (steel) is a great weapon too, you can get its diagram in Act I and upgrade it with runes.

Oh! Thank you all for your replies. Since I'm already in Chapter 2 I guess I won't be able to get the skeleton's sword. As for the swords you can craft I think I'll stay away from that seen as they are fairly expensive. I'll try to go for the one in the catacombs. Do you remember more or less where it was located glosoli?

*Spoilers*

Was it after finding the spirit guarding the banner?

you should unbind the corpses my friend. i really can't remember the exact room but there are some cool stuff in those corpse bags. be careful though, when you search the corpse bags, a wraight appears for each. Also, don't miss the Dragon Scale Armor on Elven Vendor :)

you are welcome my friend :)
I crafted most of my silver swords including my first one that i found the plans for. Vendors usually have silver ore. and you can make loads of money with the 10 tonnes of vendor trash thats everywhere..money has never been a issue.

*spoilers be here*

plans are at the back of lerdos (think thats spelt right) in chapter 1 where you find the krakan trap thingy if you didnt import save. you find loads of silver in the dwarf mines in chapter 2 if you go with the elves though im not sure how ill do it now on my 2nd playthrough as im on the other side of the map.
Is it worth crafting the Superb Silver Sword?

Galdor: Is it worth crafting the Superb Silver Sword?
depends on where you are in the game, on chapter 2 certainly not theres far better swords available, in chapter 1 theres plans for a robust silver sword (think thats the ones in the mission mentioned in my other post) and thats better than the superb

Thanks,

However, you got it wrong on the robust/superb deal.
Robust deals 12-18, while Superb deals 17-25.
I'm right after Kayran, finished the surprisingly small amount of available side quests and am about to talk to Zoltan.
ahh yup your right my apoligies i went back to my save games and checked and yup the superb is the better of the two. though on my hard save i used robust (checked last save before i hit a quest called crossroads so i gess the diffrence didnt bother me so much the 2nd playthrough as i was lot better at using my signs and rolling about.

I imported my Moonblade 14-22dmg =24%bleed =5%signs I shoulda used my Aerondight??
Prologue had it rated @ same dmg but only 5%bleed?? Ch1 reclaim was much, much better stats!?

I'm not even using a steel sword got the Guisarme(pole with nails in it) 12-16dmg knockdown 7% and stun10% so which "steel" should I look for??? During the Prologue I was using a Pickaxe!! (guess I'm known as the Peasant Witcher)

Thought the skeleton quest was only if you didn't have a TW1 save?? No slots that I know how to use..I've only done a few quests in Ch_1 so far....The other thing I notice is that just because you persue a quest line it doesn't mean you've actually fully achieved it(Distractions for example...theres more to it if you got caught by a guard there was more beyond it BUT you'd never know because it logically follows the storyline).
