What's your issue with pre-ordering? Not sure how the shops in France do it, but you don't have to pay for a pre-order here in Canada until it either ships or you pick it up (depending who you're ordering from). I don't see the issue with this. You know exactly what's in the box, so it's not like you're waiting until release day to find out whether it's worth it or not. Could you not even go into your local game shop and ask them to get the CE in without having to pay up front?

Your choice if you want to actually get your hands on a copy or not, be I'd be glad you could even order it in your country. No one in Canada carries it. Yeah, I could order through the US, but I'm less than enthused about adding a further $30 for shipping on an edition that already costs $130.

Senestoj: I wanted complain on official forums but they are down so I complain here.

In France, the first day of release, I check 6 shops, including some from big chains, in Paris and surrounding, and ZERO collector copy available.

WTF??????

So now preordering is mandatory to get a copy? I never preorder and won't start now.

I HATE that sort of commercial organization of rarity. This sort of approach is for people that collect, or those that speculate on rarity (I have read there and there people that bought it just to re sell on ebay later), not for fans.

I had bought collector box of TW1, and also a special edition and the EE. And now I'm let on border of the road like a bag of cheat. FYG and I even add I HATE you.
Don't feel bad - I bought a collectors edition and found out that not only did it have SecuROM for keeping us wait until the due date - it also has a restriction of activations and only one computer. Total rip-off and I can't believe I have supported you for this crap- No mentioning of this whatsoever on the box. Really poor.

Moradin27: yes but referring to French people as "frogs" IS racist.

winterforge: No, it is not. Again. French is not a race, it's a nationality. So if anything it is nationalist. A French person could be any sort of race.
Firstly being 'Nationalist' is already a thing- which you definitely aren't being.

Secondly, arguing the semantics isn't going to remove the fact that generalising about a large group (race, nation, gender etc) is never amusing or intelligent.; it's lazy, perpetrates hatred and most of all stops me from feeling bad about picking up spelling errors in your so called 'retorts'.

I took CDPR to task for the SecuROM on the retail edition, but one correction:

You can install and activate on up to 5 machines simultaneously. You're not restricted to one.

To be fair to them, they fought against that DRM tooth and nail and allowed it to be offered here without DRM for those DRM-hating individuals such as yourself.

But I do agree that if SecuROM isn't on the box, it certainly should be. A lot of websites were reporting on it, but it shouldn't be left up to the gamer to have to research what's being installed aside from the game.
Amazon, well the US site, had the collector's edition listed as available, but it was LUDICROUSLY EXPENSIVE @ $130! I'm having a hard time believing that the "extras" cost that much more to produce...
Look at other collectors editions like black ops and halo. You get a lot more with this than any other collectors edition I have seen and it is cheaper. The main reason to buy the collectors is to support the company. If you can't afford it buy the digital collectors edition and you still get mot of the stuff only they are in digital format. ;)
They aren't Microsoft, Sony, EA, or Activision, they're not going to make 85 billion copies of a giant package only to have it go on clearance a month later, NOR are they afforded the retail shelf space for such large products.

You have no one to blame but yourself. But by all means, cry more.

I'd second twister03 on this. Many AAA titles (even the lackluster ones like Black Ops) has collector's editions that cost similar if not even higher prices for much less contents. $129 for CDPR's Witcher 2, while considerably twice higher than the standard version, does seem like a better deal in comparison. The quality of the content seems to be pretty much so as well.

That said, I chose not to order the collector's edition as I'm mainly after the game. The artbook interests me, but there's nothing in there that I wanted as much as the medallion in the first game. If you want it but choses not to get it now, be prepared to splurge more on less in future; I got my medallion from the first CE for about $80 alone!

Not sure what the Racial Discrimination law says that side of the pond, but you don't ever want to be caught using this kind of justification here.

Racial Discrimination covers a person's race, ethnicity, nationality, creed and language.

Regardsless, you do have general discrimination laws in the US under which your comments would fall. I know because I've had this argument a lot of times with American friends who just throw out racial slurs under their perceived protection under the constitution's freedom of speech. Defamation is not covered and, in conjunction with general Discrimination law, you could find yourself in bother.

Whether or not anybody will ever pull you over the coals for it, I doubt it. Nazi marches happen in downtown New York on occassion and the cops allow it. I've seen it. I don't blame the cops because I understand that people take constitutional law as fundamental and seperate from federal law. Americans, understandably, are never keen to go against constitutional law, but frequently misinterpret/abuse it.

Regardless, your comments were disguisting.

Actually, in the case of TW2 this isn't true. Collector's Edition is more expensive to produce, but CDPR doesn't get more money, because the production cost eat it all up.

But if you buy it here on GoG, they get the most money, since they are the sister company. No retail edition (or other digital edition) nets anywhere near the GoG digital edition.
That wasn't me who made the amphibian slur. I was simply stating that French is not a race.
Pretty sure that's derogatory, but not racist. In any case, I always though collector's editions of anything were either available exclusively through one outlet, or extremely limited in quantity. Good luck in your search.

You are correct that defamation is not covered by the First Amendment. However, racial or ethnic slurs do not meet the legal requirements to prove slander or libel and are generally not covered by American anti-discrimination laws. Simply insulting someone is NOT defamation, at least in a legal sense.
Whine as much than you want that I'm arrogant or anything I don't care what you think.

And about French, hate them as much than you want, you are just ridiculous, and that makes me smile. I don't hate German, American or anything I just don't care of them and I'm not idiot enough to think all German are the same.

Back to topic if you can't understand IN NO WAY they warned the collector version was limited, then I can't do anything for someone that can't see the obvious. And it's not that at some points it becomes unavailable, it's it happen at day of release.

And if you think it's usual for non limited collector editions then you just don't buy much of them unlike me.

Last point, about going anywhere, I don't care, I just want spite some hate and pinpoint it's not a way to do it. If nobody can't understand that, ok fine, at least I will have spite some hate.
