Senestoj: No Collector No Buy
No Woman No Cry?
avatar
twister03: The main reason to buy the collectors is to support the company. If you can't afford it buy the digital collectors edition and you still get mot of the stuff only they are in digital format. ;)
avatar
AudreyWinter: Actually, in the case of TW2 this isn't true. Collector's Edition is more expensive to produce, but CDPR doesn't get more money, because the production cost eat it all up.

But if you buy it here on GoG, they get the most money, since they are the sister company. No retail edition (or other digital edition) nets anywhere near the GoG digital edition.
CDPR is awesome actually giving us moneys worth then. ;) If I had patience to wait for shipping while all of my friends played their gog copies I would have ordered the collectors edition, but I was in a hurry to play. I knew tht CDPR owned gog so I just ordered it here instead of steam despite my hundreds of dollars I spent there.
Collectors edition would suggest that this version is collectable... Correct?

So off the top of my head a 2010 model of a Ford Fiesta, if they make a massive number of these cars can they be considered a collectable?... No then why the heck would you be of the chain of thought that an edition that clearly "Collectors Edition" would be widely available for you to pick up at its RRP at the store/stores of your choosing.

Im sorry but im not going to quote a definition of what collectors edition means but whether it says so or not it was a limited run.

Im sorry you have a bug up your arse about pre-orders but if you want to be certain to get these editions a pre-order will be more and more nesicary(sp). Especially with games from people who actually but stock in what the name says, my local store is still trying to get rid of 30 "Collectors Editions" of The Sims Medieval. having said that 25 of these are cancelled pre-orders.

At the risk of being helpful, pull that bug out your arse and use a pre-order, stop bitching because you have an "issue" about it. This is one of the most useless topics ive seen on GOG.

You may as-well have titled it "Screw CDPR, they didnt spoon feed me a CE"

FoolWolf: Don't feel bad - I bought a collectors edition and found out that not only did it have SecuROM for keeping us wait until the due date - it also has a restriction of activations and only one computer. Total rip-off and I can't believe I have supported you for this crap- No mentioning of this whatsoever on the box. Really poor.
avatar
Coelocanth: I took CDPR to task for the SecuROM on the retail edition, but one correction:

You can install and activate on up to 5 machines simultaneously. You're not restricted to one.
True - or at least so says the CD project pages - but my info was from SecuROM which was a bit misleading - they have a tenancy to be that. 5 is better but still - only slightly..

227: To be fair to them, they fought against that DRM tooth and nail and allowed it to be offered here without DRM for those DRM-hating individuals such as yourself.

But I do agree that if SecuROM isn't on the box, it certainly should be. A lot of websites were reporting on it, but it shouldn't be left up to the gamer to have to research what's being installed aside from the game.
Thing is that there were so many different and last minute changes - I would have suspected it to say on the box at least. Especially considering how much they talked about being against the DRM schemes. I would have gone for the GOG version - but I do like to have the boxes and cds and maps. I don't have a fancy printer so PDF's doesn't really tink my box - also the on-line distribution prices are way too high considering how much they save on it compared from going the retail revenues. I can pay a lesser price for the physical collectors edition then the on-line normal version. That isn't really helping push digital distribution...

I see people let me in my hate and didn't attempt again to answer, fine and wiser I'd say.

I'll never apologize. Just wanted put here I finally got my Collector Edition, didn't bash anybody up to have him give me his CE, just found a lost and forgotten shop who still had one to sell me.

I know nobody care and that's fine. :-)

About collector non limited I don't know, perhaps things have changed since few last years, and possibly now any collector is limited even if not mentioned. I don't like much the idea to pre order to have a CE version, I don't like at all the Pre Order game where have gone the market.

That's one more step to death of Physical Shops by making virtual even the buy in a physical shop, sad.

I wish physical distribution would just die. Originally Digital Distribution was supposed to be cheaper then physical distribution since it cost less to distribute. But the physical stores cried about it stating they can't compete with that, so the publishers made the digital distributors charge the same price. So screw the physical distributors, I hope they crash and burn very soon.

Valtonis: french is a nationality not a race, so i can't be racist.
and pardon me for not bothering to check my retorts
avatar
Moradin27: yes but referring to French people as "frogs" IS racist.
I was thinking because of the language barrier he implied he wanted the OP to croak!!
Like use a Singapore Sling oh that's a drink!!
avatar
winterforge: No, it is not. Again. French is not a race, it's a nationality. So if anything it is nationalist. A French person could be any sort of race.

obscurelyric: Not sure what the Racial Discrimination law says that side of the pond, but you don't ever want to be caught using this kind of justification here.

Racial Discrimination covers a person's race, ethnicity, nationality, creed and language.

Regardsless, you do have general discrimination laws in the US under which your comments would fall. I know because I've had this argument a lot of times with American friends who just throw out racial slurs under their perceived protection under the constitution's freedom of speech. Defamation is not covered and, in conjunction with general Discrimination law, you could find yourself in bother.

Whether or not anybody will ever pull you over the coals for it, I doubt it. Nazi marches happen in downtown New York on occassion and the cops allow it. I've seen it. I don't blame the cops because I understand that people take constitutional law as fundamental and seperate from federal law. Americans, understandably, are never keen to go against constitutional law, but frequently misinterpret/abuse it.

Regardless, your comments were disguisting.
Pretty much the same here, although not always equally applied. Your observations on the Constitution aspect are rather astute as it sure does get misinterpreted and abused.

On Topic, as has been stated, those Collector's Editions are preorder only and do sell out. I did preorder the Collector's Edition of Fallout: New Vegas for the PS3, which is sitting in the closet still sealed ( I bought the Standard PC Version on release day ). That was $20 USD more than the standard Edition. I was a little surprised to see the price at $129.99 USD though for the Collector's Edition.
when looking to buy anything you should go on your first and gut reaction,as its the honest one.

when i saw the CE for £98 my first and gut reaction was F**k that the mrs would castrate me... ;)

I love resurrect dead and buried threads, and even more when I post some rage posts in that thread to cooldown some irritation. :-D

But that opinion of digital vs box is quite blind from not seeing the evolution that is coming. The digital market is evolving to a single digital shop taking the entire monopole of the market.

Many players don't see the marketing strategies when they find their advantage in it. But the situation that is preparing Steam is quite unique and never seen in human history.

When all players will have their 300 games in Steam, that most other digital shops will be Lilliput like Gog or just collapse, money will still be money and push players to make evolve their mentality has been seen and with all their game collection in hand of Steam, the situation will be unique.

Before the physical shops collapse and will hurt all countries but perhaps USA, even in USA that will mean a collapsing of ton more jobs, in term of number, so before all that disaster, the digital market needs a serious revolution.
