I'm desperate with Melitele's Heart quest... how many wraiths are we supposed to kill? Is there a trigger to end the fight? I knew they will always respawn and be in groups of 3 but I thought that after klilling some 10-12 it would end! I'm on 21 and still counting... a whole night and almost a whole day of fighting (in game time)... that's exhausting! =)

Holy hell I was up until like 2am working on this one! But yeah, I couldn't determine for sure if it was completely broken, but I eventually worked it out. You have to fight them off for a pretty long time. Ensure the witch is ACTUALLY doing the ritual and not staring at you and the wraiths looking bored (there should be swirly white things going around her and she'll be waving her arms).

I found if I let the wraiths get too close, or if I stepped near her, she would stop doing the ritual and the fight would go on forever until I died. So keep the fight as far back as you can.

I hate wraiths. Ruthless enemies.
The key is to not let the wraiths or yourself get anywhere even remotely near her.

Ohhh I see! Yeah, she's there just watching the fight... the bit.. err.. witch! Will she resume the ritual if I get them far from her or should I reload?

No, not that I've seen. Reload.

Also, what revial said. Keep the fight far away from her, but not too far that the wraiths move in to attack her.
Can anyone confirm the trigger to finish the ritual?

Is it uninterrupted passage of time (e.g. 10 minutes)?
Or number of wraiths killed while casting is uninterrupted?
Or a combination of both?

It's driving me mad! She's not being interrupted but I'm still getting nowhere!
Hi! I'm having problem with this too, maybe I'll wait 'til i level up more, I'm on my second playtrough and I had so much problem only with the nekkers in the cave (but it was because i didnt knew about the awesome spacebar).
Can i Just roll and let them follow me 'til morning or i have to kill a determined numer? (I'm on normal)

I usually use the Axii trick to make them kill each other. It is slow but after 6 wraith kills it normally is over. Not sure if time matters as well. Best spot is on the side of the waterfall, but do not get too far away or she will stop the ritual.
Is that amulet any use by the way ? It seems very expensive to get it uncursed by her and you cannot even wear it ?

I had this problem 2 times, one of them ended my first Insane run. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but what causes this fight to be an endless loop is if you draw your sword before the event starts.

What this does is put the NPC into a state of fear (hands up, shaking, trying to back away from you) if she is like this when the event starts she will remain this way and not tart the ritual.

To avoid this keep your swords sheathed until the wraiths spawn and attack, should avoid any problems.

That's what I'd like to know?

I always do the quest, but only for the fun and XP.
Yes, the amulet is in your inventory after you complete the quest, I think it gives a trivial bonus to armor.
What I do is gather up all those Snare traps lying around the forest and marsh in chapter 1 (you can get 51). When its time to do Melitele's Heart, I spread them in a dense line in front of the alter where the witch is going to perform the ceremony. Then I go talk to her to start the event. All I have to do is stand next to her and watch the fun. If it looks like the wraiths have worked their way through a spot in my line of traps, I just walk over to another area of my traps, they follow me and kill kill themselves. You can lob a few bombs at them or smack them a bit with your sword for fun.

This is especially good if you are playing insane mode, if you get hit by the combat bug where you cant do anything but walk around, you can just walk around through your traps and still kill your enemies that way.

Another trap thats fun to use on them is Rage, makes them fight with each other.

Oh yes, after you finish the ceremony and get the amulet back from the witch, it replinishes your vitality like a permanent Swallow potion, it works passively by just carrying it around with you in your inventory (before the ceremony, it gives you a tiny bit of armor).

Verican: I think it gives a trivial bonus to armor.
It doesn't say that though, and you can't add it like you can a trophy?

Actually, it reduces armor by 10%, or at least it says so on the Inventory screen. Geralt was right when he thought it might be cursed. I don't see any effect on the Attributes page, though.

You can't equip it; the trophy slot rejects it.

No it doesn't, it adds Vitality regeneration +1.

But isn't the curse removed with the ceremony, that doesn't make sense?
