I'd feel better if his forum name was Marcin 'CyberpowerPC Gamer Ultra GUA106 AMD Athlon II X2 3.2GHz Gaming Computer' instead of marcin 360... :(

Why?
Sorry for my absence in this topic but I was busy with today's forums launch.

As for The Witcher 2, haven't finished it yet.

My Raptr profile - You guys are not violating my privacy since I have it hooked up to my Twitter as well (@Marcin360). Eternal Sonata is one of my favorite games (fantastic title btw), that's why I put a heart next to it along with some other games like Nba 2K1, Uncharted 1,2:)

As you can see I mostly play fighting games, been that way since I was 11 or so.

That xfire profile is not mine - I don't use that service.

I do 95% of my gaming on xbox 360 and ps3. I devote what's left to GOG games:)

P.S. If you don't like Eternal Sonata's VA, just play with Japanese voices like I did.

Another thing is, we are all gamers - I don't think we should brand ourselves to the extent of "I play PC games - consoles suck!", "Xbox FTW, PC's suck!". We all share the same passion and should use this opportunity to talk and exchange opinions.

QFT.

I think that whole PC-console-war is a misinterpretation of what happened in the last years. Consoles have always been there and both PC and console games were great. (One of) The real problem(s) is the explosion of development costs. Delivering even average graphics takes incredibly much work. But gamers demand more and more awesome eye-candy.
So, developers are forced to a) cut down the budget for other areas (AI, story, characters, game length), b) appeal a wide audience to be able to regain the enormous development costs (thus making games mutliplatform and (and that's the bad part) casual: short, easy, self-explanatory) and c) not risk anything (making something new is a huge risk, doing what has proven to sell is the way to go).
Mix in corporate interests (making money >> all) and the general public interest in gaming (core gamers outnumbered by FAR by casual gamers. Don't get me wrong, I like to see many people playing games and I don't loathe casual gamers - it's just sad that real core games become rarer and rarer due to financial reasons) and you get my PoV on the reasons for the 'decline' of gaming. Console gamers haven't got anything to do with it.

I've been playing some SSF4 as well. Too bad I cancelled my Xbox Live Gold membership a few months ago. I would have loved to challenge you... :-) although I'd probably lose, considering your huge advantage in experience.

By the way: What's with the Megatron avatar?

The portion of market and advancement is also fueled by other two factors, a) hardware and b) Users.

I believe PC games are expensive to make than console counterparts, because hardware in consoles remain the same and on PC the hardware gets updated every 9-12 months brining in new features.

So the devs spend considerable amount of time to bring in the new features to satisfy the users of the new hardware, to increase their coverage of sales. Couple these with users cribbing over new hardware features not used (like a few threads back about DX11 and tessellation not present in Witcher 2 and someone was pretty badly screaming it foul that RED engine doesn't have it), the devs have less time to spend on other features_tweaks_polished modules.

When hardware advancement is held frozen for a few years, innovation kicks in..that is where games comeout greatly. Check the different magnitude of games in Consoles vs PC, I hate to admit but console have more variety and sometimes even better gameplay than PC only titles.

Also if in the new few years some GPU comes which is like 500 times faster, like 500 times more texture resolution, 500 times more fillrate etc etc...development cost for a single game is going to overtake the entire movie production cost of an entire year in Hollywood. Imagine the amount of work required to make a 500 times more polygon count model in a game!!!. + add textures + add shaders.

PC games are gonna be a sucker, and games are going to be pretty DUMB...unless and until the CPU's and GPU's advancement is held back..(which the manufacturer's won't, because they need to keep selling new stuff to keep sustainability)

Example: None of the new games have event a small portion of gameplay complexity of what the old games can do!. Check Ultima 7 against other games...lol...

End of the day, Console games in the future are going to be better and have more variety than PC ones (due to the fact that consoles hardware lasts for a minimum duration of 5+ years).

For some reason there was something piercing about them that gave me a migraine every time I'd play with them on. Craziest thing. They're still pretty campy, but I'll admit that they're better than the English ones. I would have just played with the volume muted, but there's something that seems wrong about playing a game about music with the volume off :)

And just for the record, I either own or have access to pretty much every console ever, so any anti-console stuff from me is purely out of jest. If owning them makes you dumb, then i iz super dummmmm

The most concerning thing about your post is that someone is masquerading as you on xfire. Clearly we have an evil Marcin running amok, spreading vicious lies about your computer specs and gaming habits.

To be honest, I hated it at first but i have finished it just recently and it's a very good game (it really grew on me), can't wait for Arkham City.
