haandmad3stk: Ive tried to use the advice of Waltorious and yet i get this message "Application load error 5:0000065434" I got my edition on steam, that might be why?

Es suuucks, just finished tW2, and now i want to finish off the first Witcher to get my Witcher fix!
Get your registration code number for TW1 from Steam and use it to get your free GOG back-up copy: http://www.gog.com/witcher2/backup

(That url actually lets you redeem your backup copy for either TW1 or TW2, even though the address says TW2.)

Thanks for the reply.

GOG is surely a wonderful site. Just recently discovered, in time to take advantage og the Christmas deals.
Annoying...

I could start the game when it was freshly installed. But now, it does nothing. Nothing, as in, no min require not met error, no application load error. Just.. nothing, after the shortcut is clicked.

Yet again, tried the -dontforceminreqs solution and im running it as administrator.

This is wrinkling my brain.

Please help.

I've got the same problem, but it doesn't even work after I freshly install that... Also I discovered that all my steam games do the same, after I try to run them, the process shows up in task manager, black screen and game crashes and windows even doesn't show that there was any error.... Does anyone know what could do this? But funny is, that Witcher II and Bulletstorm work properly....

If i choose not to run it as administrator, nothing happens what so ever. Simply, nothing.

If i do run it as admin ill get a box which ask if ill allow the Witcher to change any setting on my PC. Yes/No does the same thing. Nothing. Again, no error box, the cursor just shows the loading symbol for 1 sec, that is the only reaction i get from clicking on my The Witcher EE shortcut.

For gods sake, the only "solutions" im able to find on the internetz are the -dontforceminreqs and running the game as an admin, both seem to fail at their purpose.

Might the fact that the game is not installed on C/Program Files (x86)/bla bla/The Witcher EE but on another drive (D) which is not a external harddrive, just my second one in my setup?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, since i reeeally want to play this game. Loved tW2EE, and im sure ill enjoy the original game just as much.

That`s not it. You can install the game wherever you want and it should work. You might have a program like Lucid Virtu if you have two video cards . Like an Intel and ATI or Nvidia card .
