unable to create output file "C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Temple of Elemental Evil\TFE-X-repair.txt"

comes up when I try to extract the pack. Whats up?
Ok,

After reading this thread I was hopefull because it seemed that most of the people with widows 7-64 bit did not have any problems with the Co8 Mod..my problem is actually extracting it to the folder. I downloaded the mod and tried to extract it to programs/gog.com/templeofelementalevil/ Which is the default folder when you purchase and download the game from GOG. upon attempt I get this message: Error: Access is denied
Error: unable to create output file "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Temple of Elemental Evil\TFE-X-repair.txt"

I have tried with both winzip and 7 zip.

So then I just extracted it to a folder on the desktop, and it extracted fine..I then copy the files into the templeofelemental evil folder (but at no time did it ever ask me to replace a old file which makes me supicious that this doesn't work) so now I have the Co8 files just alongside the originals..I clicked the TFX-EE icon as per the Co8 download instructions and it says anthor TFX file is already active and that it cant execute.
I figured maybe this is the TFX-EE3 file I saw someone change to TFX-EE.exe but unfortuantely I have no TFX-EE or EE3 exe. File even in the game folder to change.
Well at this time I just uninstalled and reinstalled the original GOG Vanilla ToEE and it is playing fine, yet somehow I feel I am missing out on something good with the Co8 MOD, If anyone has a solution to get the MOD to extract into my Game folder that would be cool, and thanks in advance.
You have to right click and run as administrator.
Stupid question but run what as admin? Cant do that with winzip file
Hmm i just picked up the game (man i love GOG) and i wanted to play it without bugs, but not neccesarily full of new content. Was thinking of using one of the old CO8 mods, like 4.01. Any idea if the bug fixes from the new versions like 5.9.3NC are significantly better than the old versions of the mod? Or is it mainly just new content?
I looked all over this site, gamebanshee, and c08 and i cant find anything that will fix the max hp for lvl up. I only want that, i want to play the vanilla game with just that. I was installing the c08 mod but after it didnt list max hp on lvl up under its features, i stopped installing it. Can someone please tell me where to go to fix just that or whether or not c08 can just fix that? I really dont want to keep playing until this feature is enabled. Both Icewind dale 2 and baldurs gate 2 used that feature, troika must've been on acid when they added this feature to the game, still the game is almost perfect.

CO8 can do that. On the starting screen where you select whether to play vanilla or Circle version, there's also an "options" tab where you can enable "max hit points".
installed with no updates and works great,

What does NC version mean?

And how do i get more portraits. Most are pretty lame and half of them are black boxs
What does NC version mean?
I believe NC stands for "New Content" - see the nifty comparison chart linked in my opening post.
[EDIT]

Nevermind. Fixed my problem myself.

So what does Circle of Eight add?

NightK: So what does Circle of Eight add?
1) Fixes all the bugs! - This is a big deal for this very poorly bug tested game.
2) Gives you the option of having new content (use a mod ending in NC) or not having new content (use non-NC mod).
3) Changes the level cap from 10 to 20 (if you want).
4) Adds spells and magic items.
5) Provides much better AI for a lot of battles (enemy are more responsive to you picking them off one at a time). They also choose better spells and target your spell caster sometimes.
6) Allows you to use up to 8 of your own characters rather than using NPCs to fill out your max party.
7) Allows you to set characters to garner max HP on level up (you'll wish you'd clicked this checkbox if you didn't).
8) Lots and lots of other things!

Honestly, the new content is what makes the mod pack go from a good thing to a great thing. All the new content is probably more play tested than the original game was based upon my experience. I'm no Co8 flunky, but I did play the game when it came out and hated the experience. The mod pack has taken an 8 hour game and turned it into a glorious 40+ hour tactical RPG.

On a different note, for those of you having problems installing and playing with the game installed within the program file folder of your 7 or Vista machine.... STOP USING THE GOG DEFAULT INSTALLATION. As has been noted in about 783 threads on Gog, create a games directory on your C drive and choose to install there instead.

TOEE rocks.

Edit: 9) Gives you a 1st level adventure, Welkwood Bog, to gain xp rather than doing 19 separate fedex quests.

One thing I hate about this game was that it was very boring and poorly designed outside of battle, does the mod do something about that?
