Petek: We have analyzed (on another forum) the save file posted by deityx. The freeze is caused by an automated artillery unit trying to bombard an air unit (which isn't possible). This freeze is NOT currently fixed in the unofficial patch. For now, you may want to not automate artillery units, especially after needlejets appear.
You are exactly correct. This is the exact problem I have had for so many years. Thought maybe it had to do with playing the larger maps when there are a lot of units moving around.
PLEASE fix this - prayers to heaven!!!
deityx: Also (as already stated by Petek on another forum) if you have this hang problem - just F7, select all and un-automate orders) then hold position instead of automate if you don't want to deal with the unit.
Thanks for this workaround Petek and for figuring out what it was in the first place.
Only problem is that only works for a bit before another unit becomes a problem. Like DRINKYPOO said it's an automation issue (most likely). I took control of unit design and made sure I didn't have any shard artillery units (my problem unit). Works for a little wihile then game hung on chaos cruiser (attempted) movement. I love the automation feature - hope it can and will be fixed.

Thanks.
