Hi there,
If you bought the game on GOG, you noticied something : some musics are missing. Rayman Forever is a compilation, the original game + add ons. When the game was released, there was not enough available space on the CD to put all the files, that's why some music files were "cut", and that's why there are "missing musics" in GOG's version of the game.
Fortunately, it's very simple to solve that problem. Just follow those steps :

1) Download that archive :
http://www.mediafire.com/?qxqatkzd9d04jc4
It contains the complete soundtrack of the game in an exploitable format for Dosbox. As you can see, there is the same number of files than in GOG's version but the difference is that in the original soundtrack some tracks got 2 or 3 differents musics in it : 1 audio file can contain 4 minutes of music when GOG's version of the same file contain only 1 minute 30.

2) Extract the music somewhere.

3) Copy or cut the files you just extracted.

3)Go to "Rayman Forever/Music" folder and past the files here (you can replace the previous ones)

4) Now you just have to launch the game and to appreciate the game with its original soundtrack.

I hope it will be usefull for you.
Post here if you encounter any problem during the download/installation of those musics.

Note : a lot of people are complaining about the fact that in this version the music completely loop whatever level you are playing. This is NOT a bug ; there were different versions of the game depending on the country the game was sold. Some countries had the game version where each level has it own track, and other countries had the game version where all the tracks were playing no matter on which level you actually are. Here's what wikipedia says about it :
"Most PC versions of Rayman had the music and backing SFX tracks for each world combined into one CD audio track, which was repeated throughout most levels within those worlds; including the data track, this made for a total of 20 or 25 (multi-language versions) tracks. In contrast, the PlayStation and Saturn versions contained each track as a separate CD audio track, and changed the track played depending on the sub-level and its intended atmosphere; this totalled 51 tracks."

Hey, thanks so much - that really helped, I only discovered GoG a few days ago and saw Rayman was added (One of my favourite games ever!) so naturally I bought it.
BUT I was surprised the soundtrack wasn't the same, I used to play the original PC version and was a little disappointed, but thanks to you it's now got the good old music.
So again, thanks! I really appreciate it.
Thanks a lot for the help! :)
That is a nice idea, but I seriously doubt that the melodies would play in the places they were intended to be played. How did you decide which songs to put where? It sounds pretty random to me...
We just need to replace the audio files. As I said, Rayman Forever's playlist is exactly the same as the Rayman Gold's one, they have the same number of tracks, which is 20, and a track can contain several musics, as the Dream Forest's track.
But in Rayman Forever a lot of stuff was cut : the file list is the same, but that was the files themselves who was modified.
The dream forest file track, for example, exists in Rayman Forever, it's just that the file's content was replaced by content of the "Caves of Skops" one. But it's still the specific track for the Dream Forest. By replacing this file by the original track, you can get the original music in Gog's version of the game.

I'm sorry if I don't speak very well, my English is quite bad but I hope that my text is understandable ^^

Ah, I see, so this audio comes from Rayman Gold?

My problem was that my original CD of Rayman (not Gold) has 25 tracks (24 of them audio tracks, see attached images), but I just found that the last 6 of them are Audio for beginning and just ending cutscenes in German, French and English, so there is probably nothing missing anymore with your patch (well except the missing languages and the intro).

Thanks for the explanation.

Oh, thank you very much! It worked here. I just downloaded and unpacked in the music folder, very simple.
=D
Now my Rayman is completed. Better than that only a Rayman 2 release on GOG (unlike the first Rayman I have the Rayman 2 CD but it is incompatible with my Windows version).

PS: This post should be fixed.

Wait, I still have the impression that this soundtrack is not the full one... All Jungle stages, for example, have the same track. Are the PS1 and PC soundtracks different or what?

I wondered this aswell, all different level "themes" just play the same track but it's been so long since I've played, I can't remember if that's how it's supposed to be? I mean, the menu, boss, band land etc music is all queued up fine.

Perhaps this is how it is? (Except I'm sure the "swamp of forgetfulness" stages have different music, possibly the 2nd track that pops up in the first bunch of music.)

Either way, I'm having a blast playing anyway! I'm part way through Band land now.

I just checked and there is something wrong with the music, instead of playing the different sections of each music track when it should, it just plays from the beginning again - so essentially for each "theme" we have 1 long song that will repeat for every stage.

I hope that makes sense, in any case - thanks Dinofan for sorting this out, it's still alot better than the non-existent music from Forever BUT I do wonder: Is there some way for us to remedy this?

Well, I don't know how to remede this, maybe someone knows :/

Are you sure that the "specific track" for a specific level is also effective on the PC version (one again, sorry for my english) ^^. If it's effective on the PC version, then I think we can't do anything. :/

I noticed something interesting... The audio tracks are all there actually :-)
but by some strange reason all the tracks from one area ("The Dream Forest" or "Band Land", for Example) play in every single level of that area. I mean, Track 1 should play on Level 1, Track 2 on level 2 and so on... but what happen is track 1, 2, 3 and 4 play and loop on level 1, track 1, 2, 3 and 4 play and loop on level 2, etc.

I'm glad you completed the soundtrack missing anyway =)
But something in the codes from the Forever edition of Rayman is probably causing this.

PS: My english still isn't perfect too.

Actually, I think this is how it is meant to be - I know I said it wasn't in my earlier post BUT since then I watched a play-through from the "original" PC Rayman and it does exactly what our soundtrack here is doing, what we're thinking of as the problem was only in the PS1 (maybe some other ports) version.

So, I think - we might be OK and it's meant to be this way. But again, it doesn't matter so much anyway the game is awesome!
Well, if the game really used parts of the audio tracks in different levels, maybe it would be possible to alter the CueSheet file. But for that someone who has the original Rayman CD should make an ISO + CUE, to see if the tracks are referenced like in our version, as in 20 tracks each starting at 0:00, or if the track parts have their own entries. And then we should check if the Rayman Forever executable is able to use those. Just my 2 Cents anyway.
I followed what F2Pelerin118 said, and as he said there is a difference between the PS1 and the PC version.

Here is the PS1 version of the game (go to 3:24) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BSwD44ilFyo&feature=related
The music on that level of the PS1 version is the second track of the CD

But let's watch a video of the same level in the PC version (go to 5:21) :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3d2H9h1TBGc
As you can see, it's the whole Dream Forest soundtrack wich is played here.

So there is a difference between the PS1 and PC version, and the PC version plays the complete audio track for an environment, wathever level it is.
