Darvin: There is a way to survive that. You can look it up if you want a spoiler, or try to figure it out for yourself.

Dartpaw86: I beat the game so many times. But only the EGA version. The entire game, in fact the entire series has been long spoiled for me :3 you can tell me the Antwerp thing if you want.
Just point your sword (or dagger, if you're a mage/thief) up when the Antwerp falls on you. It explodes into dozens of smaller (and harmless) Antwerps when it hits the point.

I never figured this one out as a kid, either. I only figured it when I replayed the game as an adult.

Wow, I always thought it was a cutscene that I couldn't really interact with. Weird.

How do I even point my sword? Click on the Antwerp as it's falling. Or with EGA type "Stab Antwerp"?

Not sure about VGA, but in EGA I think you just have to type "raise sword"

Thanks :D
In fact, this seems to be a canonical event, thus Dr. Cranium's reference to the massive antwerp popupation in Spielburg when talking to him in QFG4.

For the VGA version, you either click 'use' on it or click your weapon (from inventory) on it. I don't remember which offhand.

Darvin: Doing any of the following in QFG1 will make your game unwinnable:

* Stealing from the healer before acquiring the dispel potion
* Attacking the stag
* Attacking the spitting spiria plants before acquiring the magic acorn
* Eating/discarding the magic acorn the dryad gives you
* Using/discarding the fairy dust the fairies give you
* Discarding the dispel potion
* Visiting Baba Yaga for the first time after dusk but before midnight (VGA only - still winnable in EGA)
That last one is only true if you don't have the undead unguent at that point. Also, there's a couple more that I know of

-Getting to the brigand cafeteria without the dispel potion (before that point you can go back and get it but once you're in the cafeteria, you can't)
-When the magic acorn falls on the ground, leave the screen without picking it up

Damn it. Found this thread after stealing from the healer early on and having progressed fairly far.

Woe is me.
You can actually win the without the Dispel Potion, but it is a glitch. When Elsa jumps the table, you can throw a dagger or rock at a random location other than Elsa, and it will unlock your character and you can walk out. This works in both the EGA and VGA version. I use it for my speedruns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq_TMHd6tCQ

In the VGA version, this ends the game. You cannot grab the mirror; Elsa will kill you (quite hysterically, she stabs the air and you die).

In the EGA version, you can actually grab the mirror and exit, but it is damn hard and the speed needs to be turned up to the max.

That is quite funny! But even if you win the game, you won it with the bad ending. If you don't get rid of Baba Yaga, you still get your hero ceremony and you still get flown to Shapeir, but the game tells you that Spielburg is still cursed.

What happens if you did this? I killed three plants and got the seed before the acorn.
If you revisit the dryad after attacking the plants, she ends you. I think you can still continue the game though if you don't revisit her.

When you go to give the Dryad the seed, she'll be pissed at what you did and turn you into a plant as punishment.

You can't win, though, since you need the acorn to make the dispel potion.

Ok thanks. That's annoying since I haven't visited the dryad yet so there was no warning.
I can’t seem to rob the sheriffs house, the game won’t let the character even go up the steps to get to the door
- whoops! Just discovered The sheriffs house is next to the dry store

Which house were you trying to rob then?
