This is no official thread. Just a collection of some information I came across and consider worth sharing. Despite there is hardly any active user in this forums, it still should have at least some use for exchange of information to help each other.
Like with my previous thread I encourage the one put officially in charge by Owlcat who oversees this forums, to make the information found here their own.
================================================
If you come across solutions or workarounds nowhere else being mentioned, feel free to share. This collection is not perfect, by all means. I try to keep this updated as long as I am playing the game myself.
If you ask for official support check owlcatgames.com/support in regards of the game itself.
In regards of GOG related stuff, like offline installers, please contact the GOG support. Those two are two different companies, a fact it had been often overlooked it seems.
You must not expect official support via forums. That is not how these forums works. Reporting a bug here will do little to nothing. Use the ingame reporting tool ALT+B.
What you do here is asking advice from other players and checking if some issues are known and probably even finding some work around until it gets patched eventually. Not all issues which can be seen ingame are rooted in the game.
================================================
When you have an issue and start checking, make sure to make a general check to get faster to a possible solution:
■ Is the version you are playing the latest?
■ Are you using mods? If yes, do the issues still persist when you deactivate/uninstall the mods?
■ Are the game files integrity still okay? After multiple patches there is no guarantee that some leftover files might lead to unknown issue which would usually be cured with a verification of game files.
■ Are you playing the game with combat in real time mode or turn based mode? If you are playing it in turn based mode, do the issues still persist when switching to real time mode?
■ Make sure to provide information which OS you are using. There are differences even between Windows versions which can lead to certain issues.
I personally recommend playing the game on SSD, since most issues I have seen are loading related issues. That is why it is recommended so often to save and reload in doubt, when you are unsure if something is missing ingame (like an area exit).
Also: keep your drivers up to date. You might be surprised how a corrupted file with video drivers, usb drivers or whatsoever could cause the game to crash. Before reinstalling the game after all files have been verified, you might want to make a clean reinstall your gfx card drivers first, as it turned out to be an uncommon yet not rare issue with crashes.
================================================
1. If your game takes unusual long to startup or gets stuck during startup loading
a. Backup your portraits, savegames, screenshots
For Windows you can find them here %systemdrive%\users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Wrath Of The Righteous\
b. Uninstall the game (optional*)
c. Delete the folder %systemdrive%\users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Owlcat Games\Pathfinder Wrath Of The Righteous\
d. Delete the folder %systemdrive%\users\%username%\AppData\Local\Temp\Owlcat Games
e. Reinstall (optional*)
f. Check if it works properly again now.
g. Add your backed up files back into the profile folder
Advance tip: Apps like RevoUninstaller can help you with cleanups like this without the extra step of deleting the temp folder manually.
* Note: in some cases it suffices just cleaning up the mentioned folders without the need to actually uninstall and reinstall. But a proper reinstall is more thorough, preventing further unknown issues which might be related.
================================================
2. Crash at startup because of Unity
Deletion of the registry entry is a currently known workaround. For Windows you can find the related registry entries in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Owlcat Games\ while using your registry editor (Windows+R => "regedit")
================================================
3. Crash after changing display selection when having multiple displays
In addition to the official recommendation, running a compatibility check of the game's executable and troubleshooting the DPI settings can cure the issue as well, even more reliable and approachable.
