mosestyle: I tried it and it didn't work :'(
I really want to play this childhood game again!
Sorry =( I know that it worked for me on a Win 10 laptop with an older Intel graphics chip, but that it's probably a little picky about how it's installed.
My copy of the game is in "C:\GOG Games\Abes Oddysee", so it shouldn't care about spaces or long filenames. The config file needs to be AQRIT.CFG (in lower-case, q and g look similar in my current font; including upper-case spelling in case that's the issue ;-) )
I suspect that the exact OS version and video hardware might matter, and maybe some combinations don't work. With patches like this, you're basically relying on the programmer's knowledge of DirectX and DirectDraw, differences between legacy versions of those and current versions, and knowledge of how different drivers will handle things).
I remember seeing the Oddworld games around a lot when I was a kid, and it's been cool to finally have a chance to try them out (my parents didn't like how Abe looked, and maybe had the wrong idea of what the game would be like). Anyhow, I hope that you can continue messing around with it, and get it working. Getting old games to work is sometimes a matter of a bit of black magic, seems like.
