I suspect that these problems are somehow related, so I'm posting about them all.

Firstly, Arcomage... The cards move very slowly, and the sound effects stutter so badly that I've taken to turning them off before playing the game. Thankfully the game hasn't crashed yet, but it's annoying how slowly the cards move.

There is also some stuttering whenever I buy a coach ride or a ship ride from one region to another. Again, the "R-r-r-r-raise-raise-raise the anch-the anchor..." gets on my nerves somewhat.

There is something glitchy about the "Castle Harmondale/Stone City" theme and the "Emerald Island" theme. I know that the former comes after the latter, and it sounds like the tracks were improperly cut off; the first few bars of the Emerald Island theme are in the Castle Harmondale theme.

Finally, in the spirit of Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking... there's no walking or running sound.
I have pretty much the same issues.
Same here. Having sound issues stuttering speech.
It's generally a good idea to say what your system is when talking about problems. But if you're running XP, this is probably related to "hardware sound acceleration". There should be a slider in the sound settings dialogue somewhere (I haven't used XP for quite a few years...), where you can reduce it, or disable it completely.

I'm not sure what might be causing it if it's Win7 or something.
The sound issues in game were fixed simply by disabling Hardware Audio. But arcomage still lags a lot.
It sounds like the GrayFace patch may address some of the issues. The unofficial patch is at http://sites.google.com/site/sergroj/mm/
I had the same problems. Here's what you should try:

1. Install unofficial patch (make sure you run game once, exit mm7 and then edit mm7.ini to enable music plus some other cool stuff it can do).
2. Modify the shortcut for mm7 to DISABLE compatibility mode.
3. ????
4. PROFIT!

Works fine for me right now. I have Win 7 64 bit BTW.

It works! Although, I didn't uninstall the patch.
Yeah it helps, well there are few weird things (do songs loop in the original game? One song per area? Not sure how to set the music right). Also now when I click stuff in my inventory the game hesitates a bit but nothing serious. At least I hear footsteps!

In the original game music only plays once after the area is loaded. With unofficial patch you can set number of loops yourself.
I think know what's wrong with the Castle Harmondale and Emerald Isle tracks ("19" and "20" in the music folder); apparently the songs themselves were incorrectly ripped. Since the first few bars from track 20 are incorrectly placed at the end of track 19, is there any way to remove those bars from the end of 19 and put them back at the beginning of 20?

I've already reported this to gog people. All we can do is wait for them to update the installer with correctly ripped tracks (because I'm to lazy to find my old MM7 cd2 and do it myself).
I also have Win7 x64 and have been experiencing the same sound issues. After reading the suggestion above, I skipped the download+install of the unofficial patch. Taking the lazy option, all I did was change the MM7 shortcut to NOT use compatibility mode. Arcomage stutter and sound issues are gone! :D

Well you miss much. Mouselook kicks ass. Playing MM7 like Morrowind. Can't think of how I could play without it before (and I've finished MM games lots of times in the past).
I'm running xp and all the npc's wandering around have the same voice... the females all sound like the male voices... occasionally the voice will change, then all of them will speak with that voice, then it'll change again... I have the unofficial patches installed and disabled sound hardware..
