high rated
First of all, I love the GOG team, I love your vision and truly appreciate what you want to do with Galaxy 2.
I think that we all hate having to open so many different launchers for different games, friend lists, achievements, etc.
This list is compiled of the most requested features and suggestions that I see new threads about almost daily.
The order is random and the list will be updated whenever stuff gets implemented or there are new highly requested features.
The List
1. Game overlay for non-GOG games.
2. Big Picture mode for TV and controller usage.
4. The ability to add more than one account per platform.
5. Double click on a game to launch it right away.
Instead of having to first click the game to go to the game page and then press the play button.
6. Seperate playlists from platforms.
Something like this: https://imgur.com/a/aE5muTs
The option to put lists into folders would also be great for structure/categorization, it works great on Spotify, etc.
I'm aware that you can use the bookmark function to create "playlists", but this quickly turns into a mess if you own a lot of games on different platforms and it completely ruins the otherwise smooth design of Galaxy 2.
And if you start importing emulators and complete lists of roms, etc., oh boy... it turns into a complete shitshow.
7. Official support for the missing platforms.
PSN (missing PS3), Xbox Live (missing Xbox 360), ̶W̶i̶n̶d̶o̶w̶s̶ ̶1̶0̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶s̶/̶X̶b̶o̶x̶ ̶G̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶P̶a̶s̶s̶, Battle.net, Nintendo Switch Online, Oculus, Rockstar Games Launcher, Bethesda Launcher, Nexon Launcher, Google Play, even stuff like Apple Game Center, Twitch Games Launcher, Humble Bundle library, Discord.
If you can't get access to functions like friend lists etc., just a simple "achievements" and "owned games" scan from our different accounts (the same way exophase, PlayNite, etc. does so)
If the point of GOG Galaxy 2 is to be the all-in-one launcher, we need it to be the all-in-one launcher.
8. Android/iPhone app.
Similar to the Steam app, with profile, games, and friendlist info.
9. A community tab
Like the one found on Steam that gives us access to the GOG community/forums. GOG has a great community!
I'm aware that you can create your own shortcut with bookmarks (by going through the store), but I'm talking about an actual integration in Galaxy 2, you shouldn't have to use workarounds for something as basic as this.
10. Application customization/settings options.
Stuff like "Minimize GOG when launching a game", "maximize GOG upon quitting game" etc.
Naming and custom sorting options the way PLEX does so, right now Warcraft 1 comes after 2 and 3 because of the name and there's no way to sort it any other way.
This goes for every single game series that isn't called "game title" 1, "game title" 2, "game title" 3, etc.
Multi-selection in the game library.
Add tags to multiple games at once.
Show the install size of installed games.
Change online status.
The option to exclude things when filtering your library.
The option to set a standard grid view size for all game/platform categories instead of having to set it individually, especially if you end up implementing custom user-created playlists and stuff like that.
The option to auto-launch other programs when launching a game, like AutoHotKey scripts and apps like GameRanger, Hamachi, etc.
I love to play Warcraft 2 with WASD instead of the arrow keys and hate using the mouse to scroll around the map, so I use an AHK script for that, but I have to manually find and launch it every time I'm going to play W2.
11. A spotlight function like the built-in Apple spotlight search function.
On macOS some applications have this function, LastPass, for example.
It's kind of like what you already have in-application when pressing ctrl+f/cmd+f, but without having to have the application window open.
12. A profile page.
Like the majority of every other game launcher/platform has, where friends can see your playtime, recently played, list of games, achievements, etc.
Basically, a mix between the web browser version of our profiles and the "Recent" version, so that it gives us stats from all of our scanned platforms instead of just the GOG information.
14. Linux application.
15. Drag and drop games to playlists/bookmarks.
From the bookmark lists as well as from the search window.
16. Implementing statistics from sites like "howlongtobeat.com" and maybe even hardware statistics from "systemrequirementslab.com/cyr/" and port information from "portforward.com".
PlayNite does this and it's great.
19. Change the way GOG scans our accounts for friends, achievements, game time, etc.
Achievements, games and game time:
Right now, it seems that GOG isn't actually scanning our different platform accounts themselves, but instead scan for achievements and game time by looking at what games we digitally, personally own on each account.
This results in GOG only showing stats from your digitally owned games on consoles, while games that you own physically or have borrowed from a friend, digital or physical, aren't showing up in your achievements.
This goes for consoles as well as games you've borrowed through the "Family Library Sharing" function on Steam.
I'm missing thousands of achievements/trophies and well over 1000 games in my library because of this.
Friends:
Whenever a friend on Steam is AFK, they don't show up as online in Galaxy 2, even when they are in-game.
So even if they are online and in-game, if they're AFK for a few minutes, they show up as offline in Galaxy, or rather, doesn't show up as online, instead of showing up as online but AFK. A "zzz" icon (like in Steam) would do the trick.
Having to open Steam to check if my friends are online kind of defeats the purpose.
