First of all, I love the GOG team, I love your vision and truly appreciate what you want to do with Galaxy 2.

I think that we all hate having to open so many different launchers for different games, friend lists, achievements, etc.

This list is compiled of the most requested features and suggestions that I see new threads about almost daily.

The order is random and the list will be updated whenever stuff gets implemented or there are new highly requested features.

The List

1. Game overlay for non-GOG games.

2. Big Picture mode for TV and controller usage.

4. The ability to add more than one account per platform.

5. Double click on a game to launch it right away.

Instead of having to first click the game to go to the game page and then press the play button.

6. Seperate playlists from platforms.

Something like this: https://imgur.com/a/aE5muTs

The option to put lists into folders would also be great for structure/categorization, it works great on Spotify, etc.

I'm aware that you can use the bookmark function to create "playlists", but this quickly turns into a mess if you own a lot of games on different platforms and it completely ruins the otherwise smooth design of Galaxy 2.
And if you start importing emulators and complete lists of roms, etc., oh boy... it turns into a complete shitshow.

7. Official support for the missing platforms.

PSN (missing PS3), Xbox Live (missing Xbox 360), ̶W̶i̶n̶d̶o̶w̶s̶ ̶1̶0̶ ̶g̶a̶m̶e̶s̶/̶X̶b̶o̶x̶ ̶G̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶P̶a̶s̶s̶, Battle.net, Nintendo Switch Online, Oculus, Rockstar Games Launcher, Bethesda Launcher, Nexon Launcher, Google Play, even stuff like Apple Game Center, Twitch Games Launcher, Humble Bundle library, Discord.

If you can't get access to functions like friend lists etc., just a simple "achievements" and "owned games" scan from our different accounts (the same way exophase, PlayNite, etc. does so)

If the point of GOG Galaxy 2 is to be the all-in-one launcher, we need it to be the all-in-one launcher.

8. Android/iPhone app.

Similar to the Steam app, with profile, games, and friendlist info.

9. A community tab

Like the one found on Steam that gives us access to the GOG community/forums. GOG has a great community!

I'm aware that you can create your own shortcut with bookmarks (by going through the store), but I'm talking about an actual integration in Galaxy 2, you shouldn't have to use workarounds for something as basic as this.

10. Application customization/settings options.

Stuff like "Minimize GOG when launching a game", "maximize GOG upon quitting game" etc.

Naming and custom sorting options the way PLEX does so, right now Warcraft 1 comes after 2 and 3 because of the name and there's no way to sort it any other way.
This goes for every single game series that isn't called "game title" 1, "game title" 2, "game title" 3, etc.

Multi-selection in the game library.

Add tags to multiple games at once.

Show the install size of installed games.

Change online status.

The option to exclude things when filtering your library.

The option to set a standard grid view size for all game/platform categories instead of having to set it individually, especially if you end up implementing custom user-created playlists and stuff like that.

The option to auto-launch other programs when launching a game, like AutoHotKey scripts and apps like GameRanger, Hamachi, etc.
I love to play Warcraft 2 with WASD instead of the arrow keys and hate using the mouse to scroll around the map, so I use an AHK script for that, but I have to manually find and launch it every time I'm going to play W2.

11. A spotlight function like the built-in Apple spotlight search function.

On macOS some applications have this function, LastPass, for example.
It's kind of like what you already have in-application when pressing ctrl+f/cmd+f, but without having to have the application window open.

12. A profile page.

Like the majority of every other game launcher/platform has, where friends can see your playtime, recently played, list of games, achievements, etc.
Basically, a mix between the web browser version of our profiles and the "Recent" version, so that it gives us stats from all of our scanned platforms instead of just the GOG information.

14. Linux application.

15. Drag and drop games to playlists/bookmarks.

From the bookmark lists as well as from the search window.

16. Implementing statistics from sites like "howlongtobeat.com" and maybe even hardware statistics from "systemrequirementslab.com/cyr/" and port information from "portforward.com".

PlayNite does this and it's great.

19. Change the way GOG scans our accounts for friends, achievements, game time, etc.

Achievements, games and game time:
Right now, it seems that GOG isn't actually scanning our different platform accounts themselves, but instead scan for achievements and game time by looking at what games we digitally, personally own on each account.

This results in GOG only showing stats from your digitally owned games on consoles, while games that you own physically or have borrowed from a friend, digital or physical, aren't showing up in your achievements.
This goes for consoles as well as games you've borrowed through the "Family Library Sharing" function on Steam.

I'm missing thousands of achievements/trophies and well over 1000 games in my library because of this.

Friends:
Whenever a friend on Steam is AFK, they don't show up as online in Galaxy 2, even when they are in-game.
So even if they are online and in-game, if they're AFK for a few minutes, they show up as offline in Galaxy, or rather, doesn't show up as online, instead of showing up as online but AFK. A "zzz" icon (like in Steam) would do the trick.

Having to open Steam to check if my friends are online kind of defeats the purpose.

Waytelem: 6. The ability to create custom playlists.
Maybe even rename the current section called "GAMES" to "PLATFORMS" (which would make more sense in this case) and then make a new section called "PLAYLISTS" for user-created playlists, where we can create whatever playlists that we want, "Local Multiplayer", "Platformers", "Favorite Games", "Star Wars Games" "Awesome games currently playing" etc.
You can already do this by using tags:
- create a tag
- assign it to the games you want to have in a list
- filter the list only using your new tag
- bookmark that list
- rename it

Waytelem: 8. Android/iPhone app. When you're out and about and someone asks "do you own X game so that we can play it when you get home??" it would be great being able to pull up the app and look through your library to check.
While I can see the convenience factor of an app, I rather see gog put their resources in the galaxy client as you can already do this via the version for mobile clients of gog.com. Depending on what cell phone you actually use, you can even place a direct link to your gog.com library on your app launcher.

Waytelem: 9. A community tab like the one found on Steam that gives us access to the GOG community/forums. GOG has a great community!
You can already do this, its described in the stikcy FAQ thread (in short: use the store in the clientnavigate to the boards, and then use the bookmark function)
avatar
Waytelem: 12. A profile page, kind of like what you're doing with the "Recent" tab, but a public one like on Steam, where friends can see your playtime, recently played, achievements, etc.
While not included in Galaxy (is this included in the Steam client direclty ?) this is already the case, you can view it by clicking on your username in the tpbar of the website.

Thanks for the tip, I actually hadn't thought about using that solution.

Well, that's the way to do it right now but it's a very convoluted way of doing so with way too many steps, and without any categorization, it quickly turns into a huge mess of an endless list if you want to keep every single platform you own (especially if you use community made integrations for all of the other launchers + emulators) and at the same time want to create custom playlists.

What I'm talking about is a structured overview, the same way that LaunchBox has been doing so for years (if you're familiar with that application) where you got different categories instead of a single endless list.
Even Spotify let you do this, you can create your own folders with sub-playlists so that you can categorize your music into genres, different playlists, based on years, etc.
See the attached picture, I made a mock-up of what I'm talking about.
It's a way smoother experience, and anyone can sit down in front of your computer and instantly get an overview of your games.

I 100% agree, I don't want them to prioritize a smartphone app over the main application, that wasn't the point of the suggestion, this is just something I would love to see down the line, as with any of my suggestions.
But even Oculus has a smartphone app.
There's absolutely no reason for them to have that, you can't connect your Rift or Quest to your phone, but they still made an app where you can access the store, see your library and chat with your friends.
It's all about convenience and accessibility.

My bad! I looked through the sticky FAQ before creating this post, but I obviously didn't see that! (great job writing that FAQ btw, I just realized that you were the one that wrote it)

But still, this is kind of a bandaid-solution.

I'm talking about a more integrated way of doing this, the way Steam is doing it where it is a standard feature of the launcher and users doesn't have to add it themselves by figuring out how to do so from reading a FAQ on the forums or randomly stumbling upon the solution themselves.
It's cool that you can kind of add some of the features that aren't in the launcher, but it's not very user-friendly that the users have to do stuff like that themselves and it doesn't exactly encourage people to be social and take part in the forums.
avatar
DerBesserwisser: While not included in Galaxy (is this included in the Steam client direclty ?) this is already the case, you can view it by clicking on your username in the tpbar of the website.
Yes, this is included in the Steam client directly, I don't know if it's been there since day one (as far as I know it has) but it has been a feature for the majority of Steams lifespan (my account is 13 years old and I've always had the profile).
Having a profile is a huge part of the user interaction and the gaming rewards on Steam.
Other than Steam achievements, the majority of games on Steam has profile unlockables like badges and profile backgrounds. They even have special chat emoticons that you can unlock.

Having to go to the website for anything kind of defeats the purpose of having an all-in-one launcher, the whole point of Galaxy 2, according to the announcement video, is to give people one place to get/connect everything, without having to open other launchers/browsers.
Also, when going to the website profile, it only shows GOG specific Games/Achievements/Hours played instead of the cross-platform information you get in Galaxy's "Recent" tab, which is what I'm talking about.

I also want to point out that my suggestions aren't meant as negative criticism, it's just feedback and it's all coming from a place of love for the GOG team and the gaming community as a whole and it's just a list of ways that GOG can hugely improve their launcher and make it up to par with other launchers.

So far Galaxy 2 is awesome and I'm hoping that GOG can once and for all unite the gaming community under one banner or at least the majority, there will always be those who won't use "yet another launcher" than whatever preferred launcher they are already using.
But that's also the point here, to win those people over, GOG really needs to make Galaxy the greatest experience out there, and the majority of what I've mentioned in my suggestion, LaunchBox, and some other frontends/launchers, can already do.

What LB and others are missing is the whole profile/friendslist/achievement tracking/game store integration and the connections in the gaming industry to get those features.
This is where GOG shines! This is where they have a huge advantage.
But in many ways, using Galaxy 2 feels like a big step backward for people like me that are used to frontends like LB.

If GOG implements those features they can make something truly amazing and I believe that this is the closest we'll ever get to make as big a part of the gaming community as possible, use one single launcher.
In my opinion, GOG is one of the greatest things that have ever happened to the gaming industry and that's why I really want to see them be successful with this!

EDIT: For some reason the image won't attach even though it's way under 2MB, so I've uploaded it (as a hidden image) here: https://imgur.com/a/aE5muTs

Great list, also wanted to stack games and community links :)
Need #12 ASAP. I can't bring myself to use this without a profile page. Hell just trying to see achievments for games i'm trying to play is a chore to get too. It's pretty bare bones tbh and needs more work.
Ability to put GOG games on several drive parts, not only one folder.

ERISS: Ability to put GOG games on several drive parts, not only one folder.
Added to the list!
I really want #5, but what it's really missing imo, is the the ability to right click the tray icon and launch most recently played games. Like Steam and Origin.

Waytelem: Thanks for the tip, I actually hadn't thought about using that solution.

Well, that's the way to do it right now but it's a very convoluted way of doing so...
Unfortunately I can't really see the difference here (except maybe the possibilty to have some hierachy, but that is not reflected in your mockup) as this should be possible with tags and filtering. But no need to convince me - as long as the devs know what you want.

I guess if gog had the same amount money/resources to spend the gog software landscape would be very different...

Yes it is indeed

Ah, did not get that you wanted an overall profile - that of course would make a lot of sense if gog wants to be the go to launcher for all plattforms in the future (and should be "easily" doable as all the information needed is already there)
avatar
Waytelem: I also want to point out that my suggestions aren't meant as negative criticism,
Can't speak for other people, but I have not perceived them that way

Don't know much about Launchbox, but is that really the case? gog is a minor player in the industry and all the interesting parts that would give gog advantage over LB are all behind locked doors with the other market participants guarding their plattform.
avatar
Waytelem: If GOG implements those features they can make something truly amazing and I believe that this is the closest we'll ever get to make as big a part of the gaming community as possible, use one single launcher.
Altough I am somewhat of a gog apologist, my trust in that isn't very strong as gog gives no real clou about were they want to end with this, as there is:
- No clear roadmap
- The strange relationship with integrations that appear to be vital for their effort
- Not much communication. I don't need gog to watch this forum 24/7, but a "blog" post every one or two week about the next step and answering questions that arose between posts would give the beta users a better perspective
- the rather ooldschool "big" release cycles instead of small, incremental one feature releases which would motivate people more (and also would shorten QA cycles) to test and talk about it in other place
Solid list.

I'd also add in these:
- Option to remove the line that states there are games being hidden.
-- I can see having that line as useful for some, hence it being toggleable for those that don't want/need it.

- Setting 'Online Status'
-- and subsequently the default one

How about:
* See install size of currently installed games

Pooling games from all other launchers is my main attraction to Galaxy 2, and a problem I often have on my computer is running out of space and not being able to easily see which games are eating up all that space - right now I have to open each launcher and sort by install size there, then compare across them. If I could sort by install size in Galaxy 2, this would save me a bunch of time, while also providing a small feature other launchers have.
I would also like to 2nd being able to connect to my Google Play account and Nintendo Online account.
Something that would be very useful for me at least:

- To be able to go to STORE PAGE from the game page in GOG Galaxy...

I love the new GOG Galaxy... but I miss many of the features present in the old one...
Plus... the "experience of buying a game in GOG" feels a lot more limited in the new one.

good idea. but hey, gog at least have some forum admins or reddit mods who can answer some questions. Unlike Steam who keeps silent unless there's damage control to do.
I agree with those wishes.
Especially not having a button to get to the forum is a shame.

Another feature i love would be streaming similar to Steam. So i can play on my TV using a cheap laptop.
