Does anyone know how to resolve issues with custom covers?
With the recent 2.0.48 and 2.0.49 update, a majority of my Steam covers (about 500 games) were destroyed. Some games defaulted to an entirely blank cover. Not like you'd see on a game without a cover set, but just an empty rectangle. The blank covers can't be replaced with an image because the Game->Edit->Media tab displays the error "could not load the image" and doesn't allow you to interact with the cover import option. Other Steam covers were replaced with a horribly cropped or stretched image that also can't be replaced. Importing replacement covers fails with the error "Image override failed". The 'override' error now also occurs for all attempts to import any cover for any game existing or new!
I've scoured the forum for solutions, and so far have:
- disconnected steam plugin
- deleted the steam webcache and steam plugin folder
- removed and reinstalled Galaxy
- reconnected the steam plugin
And now even more games are blank and misaligned. This is incredibly frustrating, as I'd manually set all of the covers before updating, and not only was all the work removed, I'm now unable to fix the errors caused by the update.
There was a thread that mentioned you could drop webp cover images into the games' webcache folder, which I've tried, but they are deleted in the background on a Galaxy restart.
So I began with a set of carefully curated covers, only to find that after the updates, I'm stuck with a collection of blank, overly cropped, and stretched covers that look like absolute hell and can't be changed.
Is there any way to import covers for Steam or any other game ever again?
And if so, is there any way to backup the database to ensure recovery in the (seemingly very likely) event that something goes awry again?
