Jack is Life! Jack is Love! The Keaning is happening!

Most sales are just that: some nice deals, tons of games, some flowery marketing talk about those deals. Nothing more, nothing less. As you know, last year we ran our Fall Insomnia Promo with the usual expectations that follow a typical sale.

The Insomnia Promo was different. Very, very different. It morphed into something beyond our wildest expectations. Entire communities were staying awake for this sale. The RPG Codex was busily snapping up and all classic RPGs. 4chan's very own /v/ put aside their usual bickering about which console was best and started trying to find The Pattern (sorry guys, you didn't crack it :^) ). Meanwhile, Jack Keane acquired a cult following (JACK IS LOVE! JACK IS LIFE!) all the while collecting a flurry of 5 star reviews where gamers documented all sorts of miraculous manifestations of Jack's blessing in their lives. Lastly, the Insomnia promo garnered its own entry on our [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/the_return_of_the_insomnia_sale]wishlist.

Welcome to our Spring Insomnia Sale! Back by popular demand*, we will be putting up 100 games in limited quantities** with discounts up to 90%. We'll have more games for sale than Noah had animals in his ark. Indies. Classics. Classic indies, even. All kinds of games for all kinds of gamers. However, you have to be fast, faster than those Polish script kiddies*** lurking outside our offices so they can get 0.1 ms of ping!

We did change things up a bit this year. While checking out, keep an eye peeled for a random chance to get a free game. Yes, this time there will be no more split second freebies so everyone has an equal chance :)

The Onion had a great article that summer about the South African Vuvuzela orchestra being continually interrupted by soccer games intruding into their stadia.

jalister: And those DLC never seem to go on sale. You can find the game dirt cheap, but then pay a fortune for the DLC. I also don't think EA released a complete version of Dragon Age 2.

EA - Worst company ever.
Forgot DA2 used Origin but i did a look and no complete version just a 20$ basic no-dlc game. That game doesn't even have that much in the way of dlc even.

I remember spending a fortune on mass effcet 2 after buying it too and having to be constantly connected to the "cerberus network" for my dlc's to work etc... :(

SpellSword: It should win some kind of award. The story and game play are amongst the best I've seen in years. I wish it was more widely know.

Unfortunately many of the people I've spoken with think it's some kind of asteroids clone. >_<
(Which could not be farther from what this game is.)

If your not sure exactly what this game is please look up a trailer or YouTube vid of it. It'll be worth your time. ^_^

I'd say or even better yet try the demo... however the sale may end before a demo could be installed and cleared. >_<

BlackThorny: compared to the wing comander series, is it more like armada , prevateer, both, neither?
I'm not sure how it compares to the Wing Commander series, my experience with WC is sadly (currently) limited.

You can select where you want to go in the universe however it is more like a "Select a mission" kind of travel.

The ship you pilot has several slots for weapons and other equipment that can all be mixed and matched to form drastically different configurations, also there are several classes of ship and 'mixed' classes that inherit attributes from both classes.

There are various ways to earn Plex (Cash) to buy parts/ships/etc. Completing missions, downing enemy fighters and clearing special challenges... etc.

One of the games strong points is the story and cohesion of the universe. <-- (Very well done imo.)

If there's a term that indicates THAT sport, and it's useful not to do confusion, I can't see why I shouldn't use it.
Right now sports can't be divided in countries, it's plain ridiculous, and while "football" denotes MORE than one discipline, "soccer" is unambiguous. I'll keep using it.

Dragon Age 2 is really crap, no need for a "complete crap edition", though.

-- Worst case of dungeon recycling I have EVER seen.

-- Dumbed down answering system taken from the shitty Mass effect 2 game. How could they?

-- Action figurine Flemeth. Stepped right out of an anime ....

-- Silly looking darkspawn. Who fears them now? They look ... wrong.

-- And worst of all .. Action fighting system ... Urgh ,,,, taking ALL RPG and tactics out of the game.

I will never buy the new DA.. or anything from Bioware, because EA/Bioware released DA 2 and Masseffect 3.

They utterly destroyed a perfect build CRPG brand in ONE go, with no hope of restauration, because now they have to please DAO fans and DA2 fan in one new game.

They will fail, because that is pretty much impossible.

I saw it for £3 on amazon a few days ago. I was going to buy but I had no money on my CC. I wouldn't pay much more for it if it's as bad as I've heard.
