Here's your chance to grab two excellent real-time strategy titles 66% off! and [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/soldiers_heroes_of_world_war_ii]Soldiers: Heroes of World War II sadly need to be pulled from the list of actively sold games in our catalog due to licensing issues. This will happen on Monday, 9:00 AM GMT. Until that time both titles are available for $3.39 each, so anyone interested in them may consider buying them now and backing up their downloaded copies. We're sorry if this causes you any inconvenience and we assure you that we're working on getting them re-listed again as soon as it's possible.

Perimeter delivers top-notch RTS gameplay in otherworldly setting and spices it up with many original ideas. The game was praised for its innovativity both by critics and GOG.com users. "Every now and then, someone delivers a game that's completely unlike anything seen before. Perimeter is just such a game."--GameSpot wrote in its review, giving it a nice 82% score. Our user, Alteisentier, spoke highly about the game's narrative: "The story is truly a unique experience, that will capture your mind and imagination in its grip, showing you a high level of originality that is unexpected in such games." With the unparalleled gameplay depth provided by the terraforming and nanomorphing mechanics, a fearsome foe born of humanity's worst nightmares, and a brave new world to conquer, Perimeter is a true hidden gem of the RTS genre.

If you prefer a realistic setting for your war effort you should take a closer look at Soldiers: Heroes of World War II. This historically accurate squad-based tactical RTS offers a fully interactive environment and gives you total freedom to gain victory in any way you see fit. The Armchair Empire reviewer said that "tends not to dwell on the exact tank movements of a certain battle in hopes of achieving one hundred percent accuracy. Instead, it focuses its gameplay on real life events albeit with some artistic flair." and gave it a whooping 85% score, while our user Scribe praised the game's physics engine for being "fantastic and very satisfying. Fire an armour piercing shell at the front of a Panzer and it will ricochet off and shatter a tree. Fire one at the back, at the vulnerable engine and fuel tank, and the turret will pop off like a cork and crush a nearby soldier." This title comes complete with an official map editor, so you can extend your time with it indefinitely.

To sum things up: and [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/soldiers_heroes_of_world_war_ii]Soldiers: Heroes of World War II will temporarily disappear from GOG.com catalogue and you have time until Monday, 9:00 AM GMT to grab them 66% off and secure your backup copies!

Once again, we're sorry for any inconvenience this may have cause you!

ithilien827: GOG is still to blame for a few things:
- They give the impression that they have more control than they actually have (if they truly are not able to give a few weeks notice at least),
- They have still hidden the information on their website,
- They have not informed their customers via e-mail

There might be mitigating circumstances, but still - GOG have a responsibility to their customers and in this case I don't think they have done a very good job.
Well, I for one am absolutely not under the impression the have much control over anything (sorry gog).

Also, there's an immense lot of shops that don't phone me every time they cease to make a film, book, or desktop lamp available, just in case I was intending to buy it some day. I don't complain about this lack of information each time I enter and notice that one piece of merchandise is not there and has ceased to be available.

- Howevery, yes, if it's about removing the availability of these games from those who already bought them, they certainly should email these buyers.

G-Doc: Hopefully this is actually a "see y'all later" promo, as we're working to SECURE THE PERIMETER! ;-D
Do i undestand correctly that the cause of the latest removals of Codemasters titles is that the IP rights are going back to the devs, as Codemasters are not interested in prolonging their agreement with devs, so their publishers agreements expire?

Not sure if I'm asking too much details, so if you can't answer, that's ok.

SimonG: The only reason I can think of that a game would also appear for the people who bought it would be, if GOG would be selling those games illegally. And with a company the size of GOG I really can't see this happening.

Namur: You mean disappear, right ?
d'oh. Of course. It would be funny the other way around ;-).

I don't know how it was in this case (who financed what) but it is quite common that publishers own the games they finance and devs are only, well, the devs.

What is the bug here however, is pretty much guesswork. To much possibilities.

Indeed it would,

"Buy it now and you'll be able to download and play it when we remove it from our catalogue" ;)
Hopefully this means Codemasters will lose the license to Leisure Suit Larry and we'll be able to buy the games legally from someone else here.
GOG, this is fantastic! Not that the games are disappearing, of course, but this way of handling the situation on your part. Well done, and keep it up! :-D
The catalogue is shrinking as fast as it's growing :(
Wait does it means that they wont be available to buy anymore or that even those that bought them wont be able to download tem anymore?

That could happen if there ever was an "Abdandonware law" (one can dream) and a website would be created to preserve those games no longer commercially sold.

"Ladies and Gentlemen,

games X is no longer being commercially sold. As nobody is making any more money of it, it will available here at noon tomorrow."

Ah, how nice would that be....
Thank you for the heads up and for the sale. I've actually been eying these games for quite some time, but they've never been on sale as far as I can remember.
At the rate this is going, I expect all of Codemasters's games to go up in smoke. I guess they really meant it when they said they were strictly going to focus on (once again time-licensed) racers only. They really don't give a damn anymore... Oh well. Good riddance, I say.

How do you figure that?

It was exaggeration, but we lost like 6 games this month?

That would make my nipples hard.
