Ultimate cosmic power has never been so near!

Wizardry 8, an epic conclusion to the Dark Savant saga, successfully transferring one of the most prominent classic RPG series into the realm of modern 3D graphics and featuring 200+ hours of challenging and diverse gameplay--DRM-free on GOG.com, for only $9.99

There's a reason gamers like to refer to the classic RPGs like Wizardry or Might and Magic series, as the games of the good old times. The transition from 2D sprite-based graphics into the realm of 3D marked a distinctive line after which role-play gaming was changed for ever, and in many cases not in the way fans hoped for. Wizardry 8 was one of the very few games, that achieved a great feat--it adopted to the new era of gaming without losing its original spirit and old-school charm. When released 9 years after the previous game in the series, It was praised for staying true to what made its predecessors great and memorable. This allowed all the fans of classic Wizardry games to experience the conclusion to the Dark Savant saga in the only way they would accept as true, while keeping up with the contemporary standards.

Wizardry 8 allows you to import your party from the previous game and complete the Dark Savant trilogy in the company of old friends.Offering yet another 200 or more hours of deep, original, and satisfying gameplay it was dubbed a worthy successor of the classic series, and a well written conclusion to the entire story. So, there you have it hardcore role-playing fans--paired with Wizardry 6+7 its a classic trilogy that takes about 700 hours total to beat. Isn't that simply mindblowing?

You cannot hide nor delete a legend! Complete one of the greatest RPG sagas in existence--the story of the Dark Savant--get Wizardry 8 for only $9.99 on GOG.com.
After getting the rest of the games, GOG needs to round off the Wizardry collection by getting for us as bonuses the novels, the anime, and the manga. :P
I'm getting good VIBRATIONS about this, I might buy it to see what the BUZZ is about...

Theta_Sigma: I have never played Wizardry, I take it they are good from how excited everyone is.

Nordwolf: If you like role playing - it's one of the best in my opinion.
If you like a diverse character development - it's one of the best in my opinion.
If you like turn based combat - it's one of the best in my opinion.

And so on :-)

Edit: Speaking for Wizardry 8 only, I never played the earlier ones.
Awesome, thanks for the heads up. :) I don't know how I missed this series, kind of a shame I must admit.

fair warning, can't say much about Wizardry 8 but based on playing Wizardry 1-7 in various forms and formats, they are tough games and I do mean tough, Wizardry's system was based on old school AD&D (1st and 2nd edition) so there are things like stats drains, level drains and so on and even without those there still pretty tough. Fun and enjoyable but tough.

I grew up playing AD&D, and 3.5ed, so I do enjoy a challenge. This just makes me wish I had the money to buy these games right now. The fact "tough" and "do mean tough" pretty much is like saying "buymebuymebuymebuymebuyme" (think that scene from the Simpsons where Homer buys the ambulance). :P

7 is an extra dose of tough., if memory serves See, there are AI adventurer parties in the game, and they can raid dungeons and loot them of plot mcguffins.

Or the theme song from Krusty World...."Take me, take me, take me now! Now! Now! Now! Now! Now!"...

Yes, that's correct! I just thought Krusty World by default.

Darvond: Am I ever glad to have Larry Laffer's visage off the page.

As for the actual game, don't know, might give it a try.
avatar
DCT: Larry Laffer? Don't you mean Larry Lovage? Larry Laffer is 1-7 and Lovage is the one in the crappy Magna Cum Laude and Box office bust
I didn't know that? What was with the name change? Could they not manage to secure/remember his last name?

coldtony: Jeeze. Wizardry 8 is a great game but man oh man do you get swarmed by enemies. Don't think I ever finished it - got ground down by a million battles.
Use wizfast.exe, its a speed fix, it makes the battles really fast, speed can be adjusted from slightly faster to beam me up scotty.

Somehow never played this despite it being straight from my favorite era of gaming. Gonna have to give it a go soon.
