Conquer the Universe!

Wing Commander: Armada, a unique entry in the all-time favorite space combat sim series, mixing in many strategic elements and adding multi-player, is available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

The life of a seasoned starfighter pilot isn't all glory and adventure. After years of following orders and losing ships and friends, you are now the sole commander, responsible for heading up a momentous strike against your enemy's homeland - either the Empire of Kilrath or the heart of the Confederation. This war requires real strategy, not just hotshot piloting, and you have to determine where to fight, how to fight, and what ships will get the job done. In Wing Commander Armada, you have the freedom to build your own universe, your own missions, and your own campaign.

Wing Commander: Armada is one of the first games in the classic series, known for taking many innovative steps which made it unpopular with some of the old fans, but moved the whole Wing Commander universe whole parsecs ahead. With a new 3D rendering engine, multiplayer modes, and some crafts that were going to become iconic for the whole series, this oldie is a must have for every single Wing Commander fan and classic games collector.

Explore and conquer one procedurally-generated universe after another, participate in dogfights, mine and fortify planets, and do all those thing no other game in this series allows in Wing Commander: Armada, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.
Another milestone. Series completed. Good job.

F4LL0UT: Awesome! Probably the worst game in the series but AWESOME.
Being the worst game in a series full of amazing games isn't a bad thing :D
Being the worst game anywhere else, however...

I agree. I haven't played Armada enough to deliver an honest statement on the overall quality (in fact it was only a few times several months after its release) but I still assume that it's a really enjoyable experience even if it's one of the two weakest entries in the franchise.

dirtyharry50: Wonderful release today! I'm very pleased to see the final installment that was missing here now. I do wish it launched as a Mac title too but maybe that will come later on hopefully. Hint! hint!

I'd kinda like to see Rogue Spear appear sometime soon. That would be quite nice if it is possible.

Aren't we wonderful? We get a fantastic classic release and immediately return to harping on you guys about the other games we still want. lol
It's a DOS game (no Windows version), so there's no reason why you couldn't install it in a Wineskin bottle and import it into Boxer, like with Academy. According to the WINE AppDB, Prophecy should work well in WINE too.

You'll need an alphanumeric keyboard or a joystick though :P

edit: one with a numpad like the one here: Keyboard

You know, I'm pretty sure GOG is missing at LEAST one extra that came with the game, you know, that story booklet that outlines the story thus far?

If you mean "Voices of War", that's the manual in GOG extras.

So, the Voices of War and the actual game manual are combined into 1 PDF?
Good to see a series completed. Well done!
Another series milestone complete...but so many more to go!

I wonder what series is next to be finished?

There are so many series not here yet that even tying up a bunch of series doesn't lessen the pool of potential classic releases. I can't wait to see what's in store by years end, let alone this time next year :)

I think it's time to begin tackling a spew of SSI titles, most notably the AD&D Gold Box classics...so man of those! Over a dozen games! That's not including the countless other SSI titles out there, but that's too grand a wish to ask for now.

+1.

If they can get the Planscape Torment, Baldur's Gate, and EA in general, they can get these (eventually). ;) My question is what is the most appropriate way to bundle them: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_Box#Collections

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_Box#Titles - maybe 9.99 for the Pool of Radiance compilation and 5.99 for each other series? (Savage Frontier, Dragonlance, etc.)

Should probably throw in Spelljammer somewhere.

GOG, you magnificent bastards!

Keep up the good work.

Interested to finally try this one, as it's the only WC game I never played before.

Going to go buy this right now.

Holy crap! Have played EVERY iteration of WC and Armada was, quite possibly, my absolute favorite one EVER!
Cool
