a lovely game, I've spent the whole afternoon with it :) I highly recommend it!
The voiceover in this game's trailer is absolutely superb!

I don't suppose the same voice provides story narration during the game?

unfortunately not :) the game doesn't have voiceovers, just robot-like gibberish accompanying the texts in English...

DAlancole: Don't most controllers, except for the Xbox 360 one, have DirectInput and Xinput?
No... most controllers are DirectInput, 360 controllers are Xinput and then there are some Logitech controllers which can do both.

SirPrimalform: GOG, if the game really doesn't have full controller support, can you not claim it does?

Nesoo: They're probably using Valve's definition of full controller support: if you have a supported controller, you can fully control the game with it. (Edit: as opposed to partial, which means that you can mostly use a controller, but you might need the keyboard or mouse for some input, such as typing a name or chatting. And yes, that first line was a bit of snark, but it's more or less accurate.)

It would be nice if GOG and Valve (and any other retailers/publishers/developers/etc. who do this) would specify XInput and/or DirectInput, though.
Ahh, I see what you mean by full and I suppose it does make sense. The full game is supported by some controllers, not that the game fully supports different controllers.

I was characterising full support as meaning both protocols and button remapping.

I checked it out yesterday and played it for much longer than I had initially intended to. Very happy with the purchase, it's great fun! :) (And it works perfectly fine with keyboard controls.)

evilnancyreagan: I am using it in Win7 with no discernable issues. Rogue Legacy has gots to be played with a controller!

just a matter of running it in XP compatibility mode. easy peasy :)
You're right, in compatibility mode it seems to work on Win8, too. Thanks again!

I've just finished the game. My rate: 4/5 stars. It's very entertaining but IMHO too simple. If you want to know more, I've written a mini review in Games Finished in 2014 thread.
Darn missed the sale, that was quick.

And it'll work fine under Linux too :D
Y-A-Y! :)

evilnancyreagan: They didn't. When this happens I use the old freeware version (not the newer retail version) of xpadder to emulate xinput to play using my directinput gamepad and it's all gravy. You can find a link to download it here.

So put THAT in your juicebox and suck it, Microsoft!
Did the old free version of Xpadder really allow Xinput emulation? Because that's not a feature in the newer versions and I can't get the old version working on Win8.1 (yes I've tried compatibility modes).
