Never Deal with a Dragon!

Shadowrun Returns, a classy turn-based RPG set in one of the most iconic Sci-Fi worlds where cyberpunk meets fantasy, sporting excellent character development mechanics and a sleek visual style drawing you right into the dark and dangerous Seattle metroplex, is available 40% off on GOG.com, for Windows and Mac OS X. That's $11.99 for the first 48 hours.

People will tell you about the word "Shadowrun". They'll explain that it describes the act of falling off the grid to perform some shady doings for a power that prefers to stay anonymous. Like one corporation trying to silently eliminate some key "assets" of another. Or a high-profile magician in need of some fresh virgin blood. Or the law going after someone that would normally be out of their reach, because of that whole corpo-extraterritoriality thing. Get it? That kind of stuff. But I'll tell you this man, I think that's not where the word originates. I've been around for a long time, and I've seen some things no one was ever supposed to see. I know things that you generally wouldn't want to know. Dangerous, that kind of knowledge, a health hazard if you catch my drift. So, believe me when I tell you: it's not actually "shadowrun". It's "shadow-run". A word describing the true hierarchy of power in our good old sixth world. This whole planet is now being run by shadows whose motivation and goals guys like you and me won't ever understand. I don't even mean the dragons. There's something else out there. Something… different.

Shadowrun Returns, a single player, turn-based tactical RPG taking place in a fan-favorite cyberpunk slash fantasy setting. Enter the amazingly depicted futuristic Seattle metroplex, and embark on your mission to uncover the mystery of a series of gruesome killings. Who knows what you'll discover? In the world of Shadowrun nothing is what it seems at first glance. With deep and involving storyline, top-notch turn-based tactical combat mechanics, and deep skill-based character development system, this vibrant imaginative role-playing game just keeps on giving!

Whether you are a die-hard fan of the pen&paper predecessor, or you're just looking for an extensive computer RPG experience, you can't go wrong with Shadowrun Returns, for only 11.99 on GOG.com. The 40% off release discount offer last for 48 hours only, that's until Thursday, December 12, at 10:59AM GMT.

the_bard: Better late than never. Did any of the backers that backed this because they thought it was going to be DRM free get GOG keys?
No, but we have multiple downloads of the DRM-free copy available directly from Harebrained.
I already have the game on steam but i definitely recommend it to everyone who like cool rpgs.
+ there's the story editor
Already have this on Steam , was a little disappointed tbh , though it would have a little more depth and character customization. Its still an ok game though.

Might also get the gog version at some point too though :)

sebarnolds: Interesting release. A bit light on the extras though :-) But I understand it is a tricky situation as it is a kickstarted game.

Now, what about the Berlin DLC ? Will it be free or not ?

If not (which I would understand), how will we get the incorporated fixes/improvements (quicksave...) ?
Berlin isn't free, except for the backers. And the idea is the base game receiving a patch to resolve the save game problem but I don't saw a date yet
I was a backer of this game and really liked it, but just never got around finishing this for some reason.
Nice to see a completely DRM-free version finally.
not sure if they fixed the stuttering issues and game creating dumps of cache files that would inflate to 4-8gb

would have been nice of the soundtracks were bonus , good to see this on gog , awaiting to see the reaction of the gamers here to the game , i was let down pretty bad

Sweet looks like its fixed in a recent patch
Bug Fixes
- Revamped asset caching system to avoid using unnecessary disk space (fixes issue of using extra C: space when run from a drive other than C:).
- Performance, crashing, and memory leak improvements

Nice to see this game released on GOG, after some of the issues with the developer being able to provide a DRM-free version.
anyone can tell me if this version can use the content created (campaigns and such) for the steam version ?

xxxIndyxxx: hah, i could have sworn this was already here...

ggf162: Shadowgrounds: Survivor?
No, I honestly thought this game was released here too. It just seems a perfect fit for gog.com

The ones in the Steam Workshop are only for the Steam version, but you can look for content in the Nexus too: http://www.nexusmods.com/shadowrunreturns/
Thinking of getting the new Omerta DLC, but now not so sure. To be honest i don't really care much about storyline, linearity as long the game have good turn-based mechanic and plenty of combat.
Hm. Good to see it unshackled.

That said, I backed this way back when, registered and downloaded on Steam, and... still haven't played it. Maybe I'll get around to it before Berlin/Dragonfall (which will be a freebie to me as backer) gets released? Maybe not. We'll see. ;)

Awesome. Good to see GOG jump on this now that the Iron Curtain apparently fell. Whether or not it's perfect it seems ppayable. Time to grab it.

For non-backers, I doubt it's going to be free. Personally, I'm holding off on buying this until the DLC starts coming out. I've got a long enough backlog as it is.
The editor is included... erm... uh...

Insta-buy...

I actually restrained myself from getting this on Steam,
for mere rumor that it would eventually be released on GoG,

And that day has arrived. :D
