His name is not Mark.

Mark of the Ninja is the sneakiest one-of-a-kind stealth platformer that you’ll never see coming. How did it get here? We have no idea. The Special Edition is available for $5.99, for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, on GOG.com! If you’re just not ready for the commitment, grab the basic edition for only $4.99 and the Special Edition upgrade can be yours for another $1.66 when you’re ready for more. The 66% discount across all three items lasts until Friday, August 8, at 9:59AM GMT.

The Mark is a sacred tradition of the Hisomu ninja clan. Extracted from the leaves of a mysterious desert flower, its essence holds a great but dangerous power that will snap even the strongest of minds. Generations past have found a way to harness this gift of nature, to draw upon it in need and strike against those who threaten their way. You have volunteered to be marked with this essence. In doing so, you will become strong, an unstoppable force. You will become aware, one with your surroundings. You will become agile, neither seen nor heard. You will use this power to protect the Hisomu clan. But as your body drinks the ink marking your skin, you slowly descend into madness. And when insanity takes hold, when actions stop being your own, will you make the sacrifice to protect the clan? This is the mark of the ninja.

You won’t find a more ambitious foray into 2D stealth gameplay than Mark of the Ninja. A detailed and consistent sound and sight system, as well as non-linear level design give you the freedom to approach every objective in your own way. Whether you’re a predator relishing each kill, a phantom striking fear and disorder into enemy ranks, or no more than a gust of wind, you can expect the same level of satisfyingly challenging gameplay. Go one step further, complete challenges, and unlock additional suits and abilities to compliment your playstyle. Once you think you’ve seen it all… New Game+ awaits with a whole new set of rules to overcome. All of this gameplay, wrapped in smooth animation on beautifully drawn backdrops, is enough to make bystanders forget you’re playing a game.

Mark of the Ninja Special Edition expands your options with a completely fresh non-lethal playstyle. Don the garbs of Dosan, a ninja tattoo artist with his own bag of tricks, and discover the intrigue that lead up to the main story. Done it all? The DLC also includes detailed developer commentary (in six languages!) scattered throughout the campaign for a fresh take on the world of Mark of the Ninja.

Disappear into the shadows, delve into madness, and honor your Mark of the Ninja for only $5.99 on GOG.com!
well now that klei has this here, you know the site is for older titles too. just mentioning it.

might be something they'd consider a bit with regards to shank 1 and 2.

I'll have to put this on the wishlist for now. I've got the standard addition from humble bundle, judging by the comments I need to give it a try. I had not looked much into it before but if sounds like something I might enjoy.
Download size 0MB?
There are a few ninja games that could be possible for the Thursday release...

Super House of Dead Ninjas
Mini Ninjas
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z
Ninja Blade (yes. please!)

It's actually 216.2 MB but for some reason GOG lists it as 0 because it's an extension pack and not the primary game itself. Though when you buy it, you get the main game in the deal as well.

Martek: Very tempted to pick this up, but...

What the trailer vid shows is using stealth to set up kills.

Is that the gist of the stealth?

Or can you also avoid lots of encounters via stealthy technique? (that to me is the attraction of stealthy gameplay - like in Thief or Sir you are being hunted, etc.)
avatar
JudasIscariot: You can avoid killing :) That's what I have been trying to do on the second level and kind of making progress as you have to be very patient and observe enemy patterns or manipulate your enemies to go somewhere else so that you can get past them :)
Cool! Purchased it :) I don't thik I'd have ever imagined I'd own over 400 games on GOG, but my count sits now at 423. lol

Thanks to everyone who answered to let me know that the stealth was more than just setting up the kills. Can't wait to give this a go! (Although first I'm going to finish at least one of a few games I have going atm).
The only downside I see is that this install doesn't find the saves from my Steam version.

I'm fine with that, planned to start over anyway.

I will say that running missions without killing anyone (aside from your targets) is one of the more difficult challenges this game presents. I've had this game for quite a while on Steam and never managed to get all of the no kill runs down.
Damnit GOG, why are you releasing all these awesome games when I'm poor? :-P

I even voted for this one on the community wishlist. Oh well, on to my personal wishlist it goes.

JudasIscariot: It's an excellent game and it really shows what indies can do :)

tfishell: *thumbsup*

We be needin' these, too (I have a small indie list based on the wishlist):

- Bastion
- Cave Story +
- Terraria
- Project Zomboid
- Limbo
- World Of Goo
- Ascendancy (https://www.facebook.com/AscendancyGame)
- Braid
- Crimsonland
- Starbound
- Super Meat Boy
- Dead State
- Dungeons of Dredmor
- Antichamber
- Black Annex
- Aquaria
I second about 90% of this list... and that's only because I haven't heard of the other 10%, so I can't second them ;-)

Especially World of Goo, Bastion (and their other game, Transistor, which I haven't purchased yet), Braid, Cave Story+, and Terraria (my 4th most played game on Steam; 1st if you ignore online-multiplayer-only games). The first four have memorable worlds and/or stories, and the fifth is Minecraft on crack.

JudasIscariot: I'd be more than happy to see all those games if it meant I could get Crusader Kings II (and all the DLC) on our site :D (seriously, that game is killing my sleep schedule lately and I am just playing it on vanilla no mods or DLC)
Oh, yes, please, WE NEED PARADOX!!!1!!!2!

CK2 is my third most played single player game, behind Terraria and Skyrim... and it's about to surpass Skyrim :-P

My only concern would be their love affair with DLC... CK2 has what, like 50 of them now? Maybe you'd want to wait for them to offer complete editions before selling them, rather than clogging up the store with what is basically horse armour (and yet, I love the game so much, I buy it anyway; EU4 (and CK3, if/when it comes around) is going to have to wait for a complete edition, though).

Since you mentioned not having any DLC, I highly recommend getting Legacy of Rome for the retinues and factions, <snip off topic 5 paragraph discussion of the other expansions> and maybe The Old Gods for the earlier start date (and playing as vikings!).

Ahem, Last Ninja would be fine too.

CK2 is most likely my most played game, it's very addictive and every play is different which makes the game really shine. I would too love to see it here but I highly doubt it based on what they have said in interviews.

Most of the DLCs are useless, they don't really affect the game but the Old Gods DLC is both good and bad in my opinion. I love playing as vikings but it easily breaks the game, a few times now I have controlled half the map half through the game and by then it gets a bit boring. You have such a massive army that all you do is deal with revolts once in a while.

What I like most about CK2 is that it adds personality to strategy games, this is unique. You care about your family even though sometimes you kill your brother or children to stay in power or avoid problems in the near future. Only thing I miss is that it would have more politics in the game.

Basically I love Crusader Kings 2 and have followed Paradox since discovering them with Europa Universalis 2. Also would really like to see Hearts of Iron 2 and its iterations here.

If you wan't more politics in the game then you should get the Venice dlc and play one of the Venice factions :) It's not so easy to stay in power.

Games from Paradox I played till now and love them all: Crusader Kings 1+2, Europa Universalis 2+3, Hearts of Iron 2 and Armageddon, Magicka, Cities in Motion and Warlock.

The good thing with new paradox games is that they are all being released on Linux also. For Example Crusader Kings 2, Cities in Motion 1+2, Europa Universalis 4 are already available for Linux.

And also not to forget AGEOD (now owned by Slitherine) who produces the best grand strategy games (mostly turn based).

Reposting the list of indies I would add on tfishells list: Edge of Space made by part of the team of Terraria developers. Also would add Machines at War 3 , Endless space, Deadlight and Infested planet.

Oh no If I buy this I'll no longer have 666 games. But I want it, guess I'll have to aim for 999 instead. Keep em coming GOG.
It’s a great game indeed. The only thing I was missing from it is the possibility of non-lethal take downs. But at the other hand, that really emphasizes a sneakier and overall non-lethal game play, which is great.
