Don't miss the Demon War expansion, 50% off like the main game!

Din's Curse, a astoundingly deep and replayable hack-and-slash type fantasy RPG with randomized world generation, is available 50% off for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. That's only $4.99 for the first week. For that time, you can also get the Demon War expansion for $2.49.

In Din's Curse, you will explore an extensive underground, slaying dangerous monsters, solving dynamic quests, dodging deadly traps, and in your spare time, plundering loot. Quell uprisings, flush out traitors, kill assassins, cure plagues, purge curses, end wars, and complete other dangerous quests or the danger WILL escalate. Not all is as it seems though, traitors will gladly stab you in the back, renegades can revolt against the town, spies can set up ambushes, and items might even curse or possess your friends.
Choose one of 141 class combinations and journey to an infinite number of dynamically generated towns with vastly different problems. Every game is a surprise! Your actions have real consequences in this dynamic, evolving world. Your choices actually matter!

If you're up for a truly original, open-ended action-RPG experience, make sure you pick up both Din's Curse and it's Demon War add-on for only $7.48 total. The 50% off special release discount for both will last until Tuesday, October 14, at 1:59PM GMT.
Yea! I added my vote on the Community Wishlist for this long ago! I came this. close. to getting it on Steam instead. I will definitely be picking it up when I am paid at the end of the month.

Thanks, GOG!
Hmm, I bought this a few years back from GamersGate and it completely grabbed me for several months until I just got too tired of it. Maybe I should buy it here, since God knows they've probably pulled my original DRM-free copy and replaced it with a Steam key...

IAmSinistar: I'm curious as to why the Demon War DLC appears as a separate shelf item, instead of collapsed into the game like other DLC. Is there a technical reason for this, perhaps?
No, there isn't, at least as far as I'm aware. I'm guessing it was something dictated by Soldak. At any rate, at these discounted prices, you can get both for under $10 easily.
Cool addition. Strange though that it took so long for another Soldak game after Depths of Peril. Hopefully we'll see their other two games here as well, especially Drox Operative.

Anyway, I think I'll bite. :)

It is strange though, as it's classified as a DLC and can't be bought if you don't own the base game already.

Oh yes, the price is more than fine, and I bought both this morning. I'm talking about the GOG shelf - normally DLC is shown under the parent game, with a "+ DLC" above the game to indicate you have purchased those as well. But Demon War shows up as its own box, like a standalone game. I was curious as to why this one is different in that regard.

EDIT: Thanks to </span> for the suggestion to [url=https://secure.gog.com/account/refresh]refresh my account. The game and DLC display in the proper combined form now.

Hi,

try to refresh your account. It's not a separate item in my library.
By the way, the sample video on game's page gives more minuses to it than pluses... This heinous "Need an enemy" alone can drive you mad in no time! Visually DC looks rather bad, let's be honest. I'm not talking about "shaders of 20th generation" and "super-hyper-bloom-blur", it has no need of them. Drox Operative style is what I like much more from Soldak. "It's small independent studio" excuses seem weak: it's not a hard task to name a bunch of 3D games, made by small independent studios, that look not brilliant maybe but very very decent at least.

BadDecissions: Comment on the game: I've never been a fan of "randomized world generation," which too often ends up meaning "every playthrough is different, but they're all kind of dull."
Same here, but this looks like to have a few mechanics that is worth it. I wonder though how balanced it is. Usually aRPG ends up extremely tedious due to their boring worlds and rarely well balanced.

That said, next hopefully Drox Operative with its DLC can arrive! :)

Bingo! That did it. Probably my shelf had them separate because I was purchasing them while GOG was still updating the entries, causing them to appear as distinct items. Now that GOG has the associations worked out between them, a refresh is showing them properly. Thanks!

This is one I'd really want - I mentioned it in my first post in this thread, but I had a hard time controlling the game comfortably - if it ends up here (and at five freaking dollars to boot) expect to see me making a thread or bugging others for a way to control and fire in a comfortable manner, as it's a game I REALLY want to get into.

At the start I had similar problems with Drox controls, trying to reset it to my liking. In the end, I stopped experimenting and used the default config, and found it the best way for me.

I've seen this game on digital stores for quite some time but never paid attention to it. Now I did and I'm gonna buy it.
Graphics-wise the game is not great but its features are promising enough.

Post scriptum (just because Latin is cool): Coop.

Silverhawk170485: Somehow unexpected but nice release. I already own it from the Soldak site but I purchased it here too to have it on my GOG shelf. But what is the serial number for?
avatar
Luned: Since it doesn't look like anyone answered you yet, the serial key is for multiplayer.
That's correct :) Sorry, I didn't see this question earlier :)
I can remember playing the demo of this game some years back. I totally love ARPGs and even played some of the bad ones. But I somehow felt uncomfortable with Din's Curse and quickly found the reason why.
In games like Diablo, Torchlight, Titan Quest, and so on, the world is static, meaning monsters will wait for you to attack them, and the town (hub) will always be a save haven where you can return anytime you want, trade, upgrade your character and equipment, or just stand around.
In Din's Curse this doesn't work. There's no place where you are save. Monsters roam freely and will find you. They attack the town and create havoc, which you have to rectify before you can use the full functions of the town again. For some reason this really annoyed me, because I play ARPGs like casual games, as an afternoon distraction after work, where I can set my own pace.
That said, I might give the game another try, if only just for the reason that it's on GOG and that I love these kind of games. Maybe someone of you has some more arguments to further convince me.
So, overall do you guys consider DoP or Curse better?

I played DoP along time ago from the offical web site and actually played it for 8 hours straight.
