tinyE: SIDE NOTE, since it was mentioned in comparison, am I the only one who found Dungeon Siege incredible for the first few hours and then repulsively boring for the last 10?
Only reason I ever bought it was to play Ultima V Lazarus and The Ultima 6 Project :-p. The game itself was otherwise, iirc, pretty mediocre.

Instant purchase thanks to a recommendation by Judas. Looks like fun!

Eh, its main problem is the lack of an interesting story\quests.
The base "campaign" is like a long tunnel level in which you just hack&slash everything.
I somewhat liked it enough, however, for the graphic, music, party option and the phat loot.

phaolo: I've never heard of this game before. It has a nice look, but the graphics seems similar to Dungeon Siege (in 2002).

JudasIscariot: Yeah but the gameplay is solid in this one :) When was the last time an action RPG killed off your shopkeepers via a demon invasion? :D
Ok, maybe I'll give it a try in the future then ; )

Coelocanth: Kind of how I felt about Torchlight, although I wouldn't say I found it incredible for the first couple hours. Interesting and kind of fun, yes. But after that I found it a yawn fest, shut the game down, uninstalled, and never looked back.
Nah, Torchlight just sucked. Really don't understand why people like it. It's like they tried to make it the dullest, soul-less game in the history of gaming.

You'll get your money's worth out of it for sure :)

It sure looks like it.

I didn't even notice the Demon War expansion when I went to check out. Have to add that on now too. :)
I've never heard of this game before. What is it like? Does it run in a window?

Comment on the game: I've never been a fan of "randomized world generation," which too often ends up meaning "every playthrough is different, but they're all kind of dull." Of course, I realize it's a staple of the Rogue-like genre, so I'm not dismissing the idea entirely. In any event, it looks like an interesting game, and it was modestly well-reviewed, but I think I'll hold off until my existing RPG backlog is under a little better control.

Comment on the release: So this has a multiplayer mode, apparently, according to the gamecard information summary thing. Wouldn't know it from the release or gamecard descriptions, which doesn't even bother to mention the multiplayer aspect, let alone give any details about what it's like or how it works. Not great, GOG.

It does get rather dull and formulaic after a while. Though the absolutely most workmanlike game in this genre is Space Hack. It plays like a game written by a computer, with predictable and unexciting escalation of items and monsters. It's so lacking in soul that you're in danger of it sucking yours out.
Nice Release! I like ARPGs so i will have to grab this one day. :D

And no regional price :)
Damn you GOG! Not content with emptying the last remaining pennies from my account with the Mutator Sale (I got 6 games but only 3 mutants that I ended up giving away!) you end the discount on this one the day before payday!

skulks off to a corner to sulk!

I don't know if it runs in a window, but it's a random dynamic Action RPG (Diablo, Torchlight). The big selling points are the fact that quests have consequences, monsters can overrun your town and the people of the town interact both openly and "behind the scenes" with / against you and each other. Check out the Enigmatic Hint thread for a few ideas of what can happen in a playthrough.

I do like the whole concept of "randomized levels" in Roguelike games. I wish more games would use that idea so they would have more replay value. Have you ever played the Binding of Isaac? It's an incredibly difficult Roguelike game, but I certainly wouldn't call it dull! Spelunky is another fun game too.
